The point you made-that 'insiders' use their own secret dialect to exclude outsiders and feel special about themselves-struck home. As a student, I studied in many different schools and colleges. Now, as a software consultant, I've been employed by various companies, and I work with several clients. And everywhere, the insiders have their own specialized vocabulary, insider stories and jokes, handshakes, customs, and rituals. It's not documented; not easy to follow; and certainly not intended to be understood by newcomers and outsiders. I'm not saying they're doing it deliberately to drive a wedge, but it always has that effect. (I'm not a native English speaker, and I don't know the origins of _"struck home"_ or _"drive a wedge"._ Could be sports, war, transportation, gardening-I couldn't say. So I apologize to others if my intended meaning is lost in translation.)

I think those phrases don't really have origin stories. Striking home or hitting home might be a war metaphor. But I thought the wedge phrase came from the literal use of driving wooden or stone wedges into other objects.

Oh man, _now_ you're telling me to avoid phrases that are region-, religion-, culture-, and language-specific? I'm not a native English speaker, and learnt English formally in school. Funnily enough, the teachers gave us more marks for using vivid, poetic language rather than dry, staid prose. And that included liberal use of 'approved' phrases and proverbs-those listed in the eponymous appendix of our English textbook. (BTW, the textbook didn't tell us the origin of the phrase; just the meaning and examples of usage.) We weren't allowed to use literal translations from our native languages-pretty much for the same reason that you mentioned. But back then, it seemed quite ... one-sided. Do you remember the poor teacher in _Mind Your Language,_ trying to teach English phrases to foreign students? _Thick as thieves, deaf as a post,_ ...? I could very well have been one of his foreign students! Long story short-I assumed that all English speakers-native as well as ESL/EFL-would be familiar with those phrases. And just now, you told me 'tain't so. Bummer. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the gender-neutral singular _they / them._

I think his point is to use these colloquialisms carefully, when you know the audience will understand, rather than never use them at all. I liken it to using different languages generally; you can use them to include or exclude. Don't be discouraged. I am a native English speaker and also struggle with how to adopt they/them, Latinx, etc.

It doesn’t matter what the beginning of your story is like. The pages before you are blank. You are the one who gets to decide what is written. It is a story you will constantly revisit as you shape your path. You will discover interests hidden around the next corner, or the next. So keep going. Tumble into this realm as often as you like. Write your story. Start where you are. And change the ending.

Having watched this video a few months ago, I want to express my hope that AI can assist us in addressing discrimination, particularly in promoting inclusivity. If everyone has access to the empowering capabilities of AI, individuals will be equipped to engage in business discussions and avoid exclusion.

God loves you and takes care of you for the arrival of this message to you. God is the one who created this universe and He is the one who controls it. The biggest loss that a person loses in this life is to live while he does not know God and the Messenger of Muhammad, the last of the prophets and the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions. From the great intelligence of any person before he He believes in something or does not believe in it, that he read it, study it, and understand it well, and then he has the choice and judgment on it. I advise you to do so before you do not have time for that.
