My Rottweiler service dog got me mineral water bottle from the fridge and also cool packs from a small freezer. Both he did even although me not asking for it, when he noticed that I was about to enter a dissociative episode. Rottweilers also usually don't have a gentle bite, but all dogs can learn to be gentle, because they are gentle to puppies, or small fragile animals, or human children as well. Dogs are so awesome. ❤❤❤

Taught this ("sparkle" for a sparkling water) to my 1yo GSD/ACD rescue pup. Only took a day after going through Nate's intro retrieve video. Couldn't be more thankful for finding your videos, Nate. Your explanations of the theory behind dog training are so much better than any of the 50 other trainers I have watched. Legitimately changed my (and puppy Galois's) life!

Single hardest thing that I had to train my dog to do was the "hold". It took 3 weeks of failure. She wanted NOTHING to do with it. If you are struggling, trust in the process, Nate is amazing. Now my dog brings me everything in the house that she can reach trying to manufacture rewards. As always great work Nate.

I find it very difficult to get my dog to hold the object. Usually my dog really likes the obedience training, but holding an object not so much. I tried this during several days, but then gave up because it looked like she was not having fun. Did you find anything else useful then repetition?
@douglasreid6996
@douglasreid6996 Жыл бұрын
@@reparee honestly, tons of repetition and higher platform that she could escape or shy away from. It was truly unfun for both of us. I had to get her over the fear or reluctancy to hold anything in her mouth unless it was play (she loves tug). I put her on an elevated platform and literally had to open her mouth, put the PVC pipe in, then say free, then reward. In those times I kept it really short and super encouraging during and after with things she "liked" to do more (center, touch, spin, etc) We had mini regressions too...I would think she had it, having progressed to walking around with it in her mouth but the the next day she'd treat it like poison. Some dogs just don't naturally like to do it I guess. It's worth the effort though. My dog will pick up your keys, wallet, phone, mail, or anything else you drop. She'll help bring in groceries. We play games with her now and tell her to hold an item and then send her across the house to another member of the family for a reward. We will alternate sending her back to the person that sent her with the item or the person she delivered it to for reward. Once she got past a certain point, it became really fun for her and for us. She really loves the whole thing now.

Something else to try! Although I'm a bit wary of teaching Zalie to open my fridge!,😀 My fridge doesn't have a handle as such, its moulded in at top of door so may have to get innovative. She has already worked out pantry but so far only when I'm walking up to it thankfully. PS the key find has been great and she actually found my keys when I lost them for real! Thanks for that one 🙂

I really enjoy your teaching/explaining skills ... i would love to see some videos on dog/puppy development .... what and how (best) can you train and motivate your puppy in what age ... because little puppy does not understand the same what older puppy or nearly adult one .... if you understand what i mean ... also they have all those fases, would be cool if you would have even puppies in different ages to show the difference... love your cheerful appearance, thank you

Do you have a few videos on training simple stuff? Sit, down, klimb and the sorts. I have trained most of that stuff, but I love to see how other people train. I don't have a klimb platform yet, but soon. I have a Cato board and a Cato Plank. I haven't used them much. Thanks for the great videos! I've learned a lot in the short time I have been watching!

Hi, I have a quick question I have a beautiful Siberian Husky puppy he is 5 months but I live in a farm and I do not know if I should re-home him because of the livestock that we have in our farm. Please let us know what you think we should do. We love him so so much! What is your advice to that?
@breakfastbat
@breakfastbat Жыл бұрын
That is an extremely limited perspective for anyone trying to give you advice, but most dogs do pretty well on farms with proper training. Teach the dog to behave properly around your livestock. Huskies aren't guardian dogs or herders but with proper training they should at least be able to develop proper manners.
