A short video on how to teach your dog to roll a ball with his or her nose. This trick is alot of fun to do on those sunny days out on the field playing soccer as now the dog can join in!

This has to be one of my favourite videos I've seen so far. You can really see how she's interested in learning and is quickly learning just from a reward for putting her nose to the ball.

This would be great for young children when you are busy, as long as your dog is good with kids :)

If the dog does something you don't want him to do, you know that you're either making it too hard, going too fast or not being clear in what you want from the dog. Just ignore the behaviour and make it easier and try again. Success equals learning.

Yes, you can see in many of my other video's how Luna is around other people and dogs in public. She has been brought up to enjoy listening to a cue given.

I love this technique. We also have a border collie - she's only 24 months and super smart. Can you tell me what kind of treats you use for your dog? I've scrolled down on comments and quite a few people have asked the same thing. Can you please let us know what treats you use? Thanks!!!

any advice on the transition form tennis ball to soccer ball? - my pup loves to attack the soccer ball with his teeth

awesome. i am also trying to teach my BC to bounce a ball off her nose. she is unfortunately opening her mouth and biting it while she bounces it back. any advice on how to reinforce bouncing off her nose, without baring teeth?

My McNab naturally pushes the ball with her nose after she fetches & drops it at my feet (she came like this from the shelter). She pushes it SO violently sometimes it ends up multiple feet away from me xD then she knows "it's too far - go get it!" and goes and gets it and replaces it by my feet...

what treats give a dog?
@AnimalEmancipation9 жыл бұрын
I started training and my dog now mostly tips the ball with her snout/nose, but I can't really figure it out to make her push the ball towards me... Maybe I have to be more patient, but when she does not get her treat for pushing it anywhere she looses her interest in it

That is wonderful. I have a very smart cockapoo, who wants nothing more than to please me. My problem is that he wants to keep the ball if I do not have a treat, if I have a treat, he will bring it, drop it, and sit, down. He is currently learning where I want him to go potty in my yard. He is 5, and wants to play all day long, from about 2 in the afternoon, to 10 pm. Yes, he is spoiled and usually I will play with him, if he brings a toy, usually a ball, to chase. We do play hid and seek, and will stay, if treats are provided. How long do you continue to use the treats? WE have been doing this for 5 years. And he still will not stay in the house without a treat. Outside is not a problem, unless he sees a friend, or hears another dog barking, then his attention is broken. Do dogs have ADD, just asking? He is just such a puppy, He does know who is in charge, because he will listen, but most of the time, I am just so tired after work that I do not want to move for a little while. I am always telling Buttons that "I'm sorry you live with an old person, who really does not have much energy." Of course he looks at me like I have 4 heads, but he seems to understand, because he will go and sit next to me, or on the floor right by my feet. I think that it is me that is always feeling guilty, that I am not playing all the time since he is alone for about 6-7 hours during the day. My question is how can I get him to relinquish, the ball when I say without a treat. I know he thinks he is in charge and I also know it is a guilt thing!! If I do speak in a firm voice by saying "no" he will stop the behavior that I do not want, or even a series of sounds from me indicating displeasure. So, I know that he is smart enough, and will do what I ask when he knows I am serious. Thanks for any help or encouragement you can provide. Thanks Buttons Mom

+Barbara Moore It sounds like you haven't phased out the treats, which you should do asap. I would suggest re-training the dog from the start using a clicker. It will change things up for the dog. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3XEiGaYaLqcrdE

gary fletcher that's not true!! My german shepher PUPPY can do it, maybe not as perfect but she make it roll a little bit but she's only 5 months. So I think, if well trained, every dog can do it

Lol. My maltese learns everything.

What really annoys me is you do it so perfect and when I look at my dog I just wNn.
@ExDeadman7 жыл бұрын
You should not use that dog as a example on how to because he is a smart dog and most dogs are not going to be as smart as your dog !
6 жыл бұрын
I disagree, because the dog is not a retriever, it is a shepherd, so naturally this little princess is not programmed to go fetch the ball, unlike my lab who was bred for retrieving. Therefore, this is a good example with the right dog.
