I just put in a new strut and the tops of the struts are still floating like 3 mm above the base of the car. I can’t figure it out, do you think it’s an adjustment problem or a manufacturing defect. I appreciate your time. Also if the struts are good but they have that little bit of clearance will that be a problem??

Can a bad strut mount bearing make a steering wheel hard to turn. It's making a metal screeching noise on the bearing. I jus replaced the power steering pump. 03 escape v6

just replaced struts, springs, mounts, sway bar links, axles, outer tie rods and ball joints. still have rattle on passenger side... possible to get bad mounts? or possibilities?

Kristain Johnson assuming everything u replaced was done right and no defective parts...i would check control arm bushings, kmember mount bolts are tight, strut mounts, sway bar bushings and end links etc..

Kristain Johnson i just watched a video that solved a problem like this by replacing the rubber on the actual sway bar, underneath the car. Theirs was passenger side.

I am replacing the shocks of my 07 Honda Pilot because they are past due. I hear no cracking noises though . Should I replace the strut mounts while I am at it?

YES YES YES!!! i didnt do mine, now the new shock being so stiff, tore the whole mount rubber right off. double the work. the mount only costs about 20 bucks.

Do I need to do a wheel alignment after replacing a strut mount or is placing the new one as close as possible to where the old one was enough?

make markings if you need to remember where to put it. Always set it back the way it exactly was before dismantling or you need a alignment.

Hello, I have a 2007 FX35 and I was silly enough to wait too long to change my struts. After changing the struts, no matter how many times I have the car aligned (7 so far including the dealer), it still pulls ever so slightly to the left. I am thinking that due to the weakness of the struts before they were changed, I may have damaged a bushing or something. I have had several mechanics look at the bushings but none of them have found a problem. In your opinion what would be the order of bushing replacement or part replacement sequence if a strut damaged a softer component? I use to love the car but not so much anymore. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated Thanks Mark

No, it doesn't pull when braking. I have to slightly turn the steering wheel to the right (very light pressure) to keep it going straight.

u mean the nut on the strut? that nut is usually some sort of nylock and shouldnt back off..its highly unlikely

yeah the that one. its probably broken i was just wondering if it was a possibility if i could tighten it down but ill probably just replace it. I guess thats what happens when you go offroading a lot in a 2 door car haha

+klowny1969 hey I checked out the top nut today and I actually found it to be loose! I torqued it down to match the other side and my noise went away. it didn't seem to be a nylon nut though I didn't take it off so it may have been and it actually had some kind of grease on it. this was for a 2007 scion tc. thanks for the video

i would check the suspension..shocks, sway bar bushings, end links etc..

+Hector Flores the strut tower mounts can also make the noise..just bounce the car up and down and see if u hear the noise from there

got new struts from ebay installed. not so good quality of course. now i hear a noise upfront. i assume its a mount. 2008 mazda 3 with 88K. i think i replaced the original struts. sidenote: pennsylvania roads are so bad its a damn joke. what a difference from north carolina. not a fan of either state lol.

Jon Focker I got struts off ebay also ..they make noise as soon as they was put on ! Got the refund tho and was able to keep the struts ! Now I'm thinking the mounts are bad

When you are driving, release your accelerator. Do you hear a similar clank? Then step on the gas again. Do you reproduce the clank?
