I was hoping you would compare to a faulty coil.

Thank you for this invaluable information. Question: how much of a difference in ohm readings between old and new coils (if any) indicates replacing the old coil(s) for brand new coil(s)?
@Top5AutoRepairs8 ай бұрын
It will vary between each vehicle. All Data is a good software to confirm specifications.

Thanks for the video first. If I may ask one modest question. The order of the ignition coils seems to matter because they are numbered. How can we find out the correct order when we don't have a numbered coil and what does the order matter if all the coils are the same. Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Levan.

If you asking for installing all new coils it doesn’t matter, they are all the same, for diagnostic purposes it does help labeling, even though they are the same, let’s say 2 out of 4 are bad, then numbering them could help, for example, cylinder 1 and 3 are misfiring, you take the coils out and label them and 1 and 3 should be coming up bad, if not then it’s another issue, but if all of them are good it doesn’t really matter, coils don’t control firing order, they just deliver power to the plugs

I would like to point out something. My mechanic, who is a truly phenomenal told me ohming out a coilpack is not a 100% way to determine if a coilpack is good as he has had many coilpacks ohm out perfect but still fail under a load. So this test is just for a chance at showing a defective coilpack but not to know for 100%. Oem coil (motocraft DG511,DG508) ohms should be 0.55 ohms for primary circuit and 5,500 ohms for the secondary.

The rubber underneath the top part on one my car's coils has some cracks. Do the cracks impact the car at all? Thanks.
@Top5AutoRepairs8 ай бұрын
It will cause voltage leaks. You may notice an engine misfire, poor gas mileage, hard start, maybe no start, poor engine performance etc...
@viewlesswind8 ай бұрын
@@Top5AutoRepairs the cracks are not in the rubber that mates the sparkplug though. It's the rubber on the top part that mates the valve cover. And that can cause the issues you just described?
@Top5AutoRepairs8 ай бұрын
It shouldn't be an issue

How about measure on ignition coil with 4 pins?
@owens4175 ай бұрын
How do you check a 4 pin coil? Would it be the same?
@Dominic-yu1ez4 ай бұрын
That would have 6 testing combinations instead of 3

Are all the coils suppose to have that same reading? 00.4 00.4 0000?
@TheTomppaa3 ай бұрын
I don’t think so. For example mine brand new are 0,08 ohms.
