Outstanding and helpful series of videos. When the vacuum is created does it need to provide a certain amount of pressure. Or open is open and closed is closed? Just trying to diagnose some issues after Rebuilding my carb! Thanks a ton

Thank you for watching and supporting the channel, yes a certain amount of vacuum is required but it is not a lot.

Hi, loving the videos. When I was cleaning the carb whilst following your other video, whilst the fuel pipe was off the carb I noticed it has a slow leak, you don’t cover off what to do if the fuel tap leaks when in the ‘on’ position. Is it ok to have a small leak or how easy is it to fix? Thanks
@Martysworkshop Жыл бұрын
I think the only choice is to replace it if it leaks but the genuine taps are quite expensive, but as long as the float is working the fuel should stop there,

Hi Marty, I’ve been rebuilding an LT50 and your videos have been a great help, thank you! I’ve rebuilt the top end too and the aftermarket head hasn’t come with a vacuum pipe attachment. I didn’t realised until it’s fully rebuilt and I’m doing the finishing touches. Is this going to affect the bike starting/running? Any help is appreciated. James
@Martysworkshop10 ай бұрын
Hello James and thank you for your support, so you only need the vacuum pipe to opporate the fuel tap in the on position, you can do away with the pipe but you will need to leave the tap in the pri position

Hello, great video btw! I am working on an lt50 but it has no spark. I have gone over everything! I looked at the left-hand crank seal speak pug ignition coil literally everything i can think of do you have anything that I may be missing and could check? Thanks!
@Martysworkshop2 жыл бұрын
Ok so just to start from the beginning, have you replaced the spark plug? Then plugged it into the cap and touched the tip of the plug on the engine while you pulled it over to check for spark? So next i would unplug the wires from the stop button and the pull cord stop then try again, if still no spark i would be checking the lead from the cap to coil, probably just replace that lead as a precaution as it is cheep.next i would remove the coil ans make sure it has a good contact with the frame as it needs to earth the frame so sand the paint off to make sure you have a good contact. If you still have no spark I'm afraid is ether the coil is stator, cheak all the wiring closely, but its not easy to test I'm afraid you can send them away to be tested and repaired but would probably cost more money than it is worth, so i would look at a 2nd had coil first and if that doesn't work then the stator, thank you for watching and i home this helps.

I bought an lt50 not sure how to figure out the year of the bike. But my membrane is broken on the fuel petcock so as soon as I put fuel into the tank it pours down the vacuum line and fills the cylinder full of fuel. Do you know where to buy a replacement membrane or but a new fuel petcock ? I tried one of Amazon but it says lt80 not sure why the can’t send the lt50 like I ordered but the bike fires up and then dies right away like it’s getting to much fuel and it won’t start again till it sits for a while then fires back up for a second and it shuts off again
@Martysworkshop3 жыл бұрын
Hello does it have an identifitication plate on the frame, that usualy says the year. Also I get most my parts off ebay but you can Only buy the petcock whole.

Marty to the rescue again lol...so ibe cleaned my petcock multiple times works for awile then i think more crud from my tanks messes it up an flows on the "on" position...so for a simple fix do u think i could add a simple inline fuel shutoff before the carb?? Or will it create a vaccum issue??
@Martysworkshop2 жыл бұрын
If it runs fine on the pri position i would just use it as the on it won't hurt to be honest,
@jesseruiz87402 жыл бұрын
@@Martysworkshop well it runs fine on it's just when I let the quad sit for a day or 2 there's a huge puddle underneath it from I believe the petcock just continuing to let fuel out
@Martysworkshop2 жыл бұрын
I see, try taking the pipe off the carb and leaving it in a pot to confirm it is letting it through! But the carb shouldn't let it through, have you seen part 4 there is a common fault where the carb lets the fuel through.

hello i need to install the new carb on a lt 50 but i don't know where to connect all the hoses. Can you help me please
@Martysworkshop2 жыл бұрын
Sure there is only 1 hose that matters and that is the fuel pipe that goes on to the large port, all the rest are vent pipes, which just hang under the carb. Hope this helps

The new head that I brought didn’t have a vacuum port. I’ve had to blank my vacuum on the petcock and now I can only run the quad on the gravity fead “pre” is this common?

Another question. Can you elaborate on how the mix of oil and gasoline is made? And is there an easy way to reach the oil tank? Thank you.
@Martysworkshop4 жыл бұрын
Im not 100% as my lt50 has had the oil system removed so i plan to fit a new oil tank and get it back to original operation in a future video
@El_minipro4 жыл бұрын
If I just don’t connect the diafragme black hose from the fuel valve to the piece between the carb and cylinder wouldn’t the on position become the off position? I’m thinking about doing this because hikes can be parked for months without being turned on and when there is fuel evaporating in the carburetor deposit, fuel Impurities will end up clogging the jet that allows fuel to go from the carb deposit to the cylinder. So if the quad had an off position in the fuel supply one could put it off, but leave the bike on and consume the fuel from the carb to leave it empty. I do this on all my Offroad bikes. But now Roth this one I have this doubt.
@Martysworkshop4 жыл бұрын
Yes that makes a lot of sense just make sure you bank off the pipe coming off the intake as it would draw in air to your engine otherwise, thank you for your feedback
@daniellaverick1062 жыл бұрын
So where would you leave it when not being used?
@Martysworkshop2 жыл бұрын
If you leave it in the on position as soon as you stop the engine off the vacuum will stop and switch the tap off. Thank you for watching.

MARTY PLEASE HELP! I own a LT50 1987 model (i guess) and it wasnt used for like almost 4years... i used it only a few times since i got it brand new (approximately like 5 times a month or so for 5 years). I recently had an idea of rebuilding it after i saw your videos and now it wont start! i dont seem to find any electric problem as the plug seems to work fine and isn't worn at all. but my petcocks diaphragm is damaged and i cant find any in my country- Sri Lanka. also when i put my petcock to PRI, fuel doesnt flow from the pipe thats supposed to be connected to the carb and instead it starts flowing from the other pipeline to the cylinder directly. is that the problem? also i opened the overflow screw of the carb and put the petcock to pri but it doesnt seem to flow at all. what should i do?
@Martysworkshop Жыл бұрын
OK so I would remove both pipes off the tap and then blank off the 1 pipe that goes the the engine, because if you leave it open it will draw in air witch is not good, then you need to give the carb a supply of fuel, so drill a hole smaller than the pipe in the bottom of a bottle then push the pipe in so it us tight, then fill bottle with fuel and try it this will eliminate the tap, let me know how you get on and we can go from there.

Thank you for the comment but my only advice would be to copy the original cylinder if you wanted to add the port, but it will work fine if you just leave the vacuum pipe off and use the quad with the tap in the pri position.
