Here's a question I've been thinking about for a while: what about the immortality of the player? For the longest time, I used to think of this as a gameplay feature (as explained in the video). However, the Nether Update added Respawn Anchors specifically for the resuscitation of the player. Lore-wise, beds could be explained as merely a way for the player to sleep through the night (gameplay) and the respawning feature was added because that's where it made the most sense. The Respawn Anchor has no other purpose though, which whe paired with the dialogue of the two entities in the End poem, seem to indicate that the player's immortality is a part of the lore. What do you think of this?

could dungeons be earlier on the "timeline" of minecraft? or perhaps later seeing as there villagers. though if the villagers already knew of the player's "species"(is what I'll go with) that would explain why they are non-hostile or don't run from us. why we're the last ones alive? hard to say.

I've actually been thinking about this recently. I always thought Dungeons took place at the same time as the original, or later on, but it's actually possible that it does in fact take place beforehand. Here’s an interesting Minecraft theory/lore topic to talk about: is there any other lore about the Minecraft ender dragon than the fact that it was the endermen’s fate? If so then what can we dig from it? Is there an origin story to the ender dragon besides the fact that it can be summoned with obsidian pillars and end crystals? And what exactly is the ender dragon other than it’s a dragon from the end? Is it even from the end at all?

I think it mastered void magic, which enables travel between dimensions, and turned all the other dragons into endermites. Just my opinion though.
@Francesco_Di_Pereira2 жыл бұрын
The dragon represents the corruption of the world, The End and Endermen are proof, they were an ancient civilization but welled up under her control on their search for technology and energy (ender crystal). Proof is that The End is inverted from the Overworld, the End rock was actuslly once Cobblestone and the purple trees were green. Also that in the Mob bestiary you can see that Endermen have something purple inside their bodies and have unnaturally long legs and arms, and when you kill the Dragon you get "Free the End", because they are under her control.

Although Dungeons has some cool connections to Soul Energy that would be really interesting to talk about
@sboy20443 жыл бұрын
My head-canon is that some parts are canon, while some aren’t. Dungeons has been confirmed to be part of the universe multiple times, though the present gameplay can vary with the order you play the levels, if there more than one player character, etc. So what I think is that certain story elements and pieces of lore like the Orb of Dominance, the Nameless Kingdom, and the Illagers’ society described in the prequel book are completely canon, while certain landmarks and history of a specific area in base game are left for the player to come up with the story. (I think that the world border doesn’t actually exist in-universe, and that the world _is_ infinite lore-wise.) Edit: Also, do you know where you heard that specific quote?

I believe the one other KZbinr where Minecraft has quasi lore. Loosely defined lore that can really be taken anywhere. That’s why the developers all have their own ideas and theories. And for the Minecraft Dungeons, I’d like to look to Scott Cawthon and his Books. He essentially stated they follow the same canon, but not the same story. Basically they all follow the same rules, but are taken with different angles or events. This is what I believe was meant by Jeb’s response. Yes in its canon, no it’s not the same world, and yes if that’s the theory you want to make (quasi-lore).

3:40 Thats a nice idea, sounds very plausible and interesting. Endstone could work similar to coral reefs in real life in the sense that it is built by tiny organisms that filter some kind of air particles/plankton/floating life forms from the air to feed and built a stone-/limestone-like material from it. This could actually mean that the End is in the atmosphere of a gas planet. The end clearly has gravity (meaning it is on a planet and not just in some floating asteroid field in space), but it doesn't have a solid surface as there is only void beneath it. I don't consider the void beneath the overworld and nether to be lore/canonical because it is clearly just a technical limitation because the 2D chunk system can't render the world infinitely downwards, and you are not meant to see the overworld/nether void in survival, meaning it is not meant to be actually "there" lore-wise. The end void however is something you can see and fall into in survival mode, meaning it is part of the lore. With the idea that the end is in the atmosphere of a gas planet, it could mean that this gas planet has its own ecosystem of microscopic life forms that are filtered by endstone organisms that turn them into endstone (which could consist of limestone like coral reefs), and it would also explain that you die from falling into the void because of higher pressure and temperature closer to the core. It could also mean that the ender dragon is a lifeform that normally lives in higher layers of the gas planet atmosphere, only when you resummon it one of the ender dragons comes down to the endstone layer.

One of my personal theories is that Zombies can't see the color grey or always see grey entities as friendly, this could explain why the illagers and witches don't get attacked by them. Another theory is that the "illness" Of the Illagers is an unharmful variant of the zombie plague wich just turns their skin grey but makes them seem like zombies to other entities.

On your point of impressionism and art, my personal take on why not to officially state the story is to give a feel of realism, or to be more clear, authenticity. It should feel like an archeologist (or even just a hermit in the woods) stumbling across an ancient ruin, lost to time with no idea how it got there, a kind of adventurous yet also relaxing and calming, almost tranquil and sad feeling that you can feel in your chest. (Very akin to the overworld music) The story isn’t handed out to you on a silver platter, like the real world. In a world of disbanded villages and mostly raw land with you coming out of the middle of no where, you have to piece together the story of your world for yourself. It feels authentic. You aren’t a chosen one set out on a mission from a mighty wizard to slay a dragon and the worlds story isn’t given to you, you’re just an ordinary guy in a world, and every world has it’s story, wether you see it or not.

Personally, I feel like Minecraft Dungeons is indeed set in the same universe, specifically the future. I follow the Game Theory lore perspective because in most part it makes sense and the concept is quite interesting. The idea that you're the last of your own kind, a race known as the Creators or Crafters, that all went extinct from the attempt of creating actual life that went horribly wrong and so forth. The reason why I say that Minecraft Dungeons takes place in the future because technically you're not exactly alone yet alone the last of the Creators because we have "Steve" and "Alex", a man and a woman, the Adam and Eve essentially. Therefore we could say that the main player in Minecraft Dungeons are but one of the very descendants of Steve & Alex.

I feel that the Enderman deep dive theory video was an exception, because upon watching it, I was surprised by the fact that one moment you were trying to explain their teleportation and then the next establishing that they has a community between them, discovering other dimensions and attempting to send back data. It felt like there was more story in that theory than there was evidence to support it because there are other big leaps in your explanation, such as the Enderman species as a whole being from the End or Enderman once being able to lift other blocks; in game evidence doesn't seem to suggest either.

I've compiled a bunch of theories and questions about this series so I'm just going to repost them in one on all these videos to increase the odds of them getting answered or maybe even made into videos 1. Do you think somewhere in the minecraft world there's a lost disk called disk 12? 2. something I want to know is what a respawn anchor is supposed to be because respawning is not something that actually happens in universe but with the bed its obvious that the actual in universe use is just for sleeping but the respawn anchor only sets a spawn point so what's it actually doing in the context of the world? 3. What are the differences between different forms of undeath? We see Zombies, husks, Zombie villagers, zombie horses, zoglins, zombie pigmen, and drowned who all just have decaying skin. Skeletons, wither skeletons, strays, and skeleton horses who just keep their bones then we see Phantoms who have a more ghost like appearance. Also as an addon to that what is a ghast because I always thought it was a ghost but it isn't so maybe it conveniently evolved like squids or something. 4. Something that I find interesting is that other creatures when inflicted by the zombie virus seem to become mindlessly violent but when horses and piglins become zombified they act mostly normal, with piglins specifically the only differences are they seem to not have the full intelligence of normal piglins because A they don't still trade and B they only spawn with Swords and don't use cross bows. Another weird detail is that zombified piglins are immune to fire which is a huge red flag for a couple of reasons because one normal piglins aren't fire immune but most other undead creatures are particularly weak to fire. Another undead mob that has weird contradictions to most undead mobs are the zombie and skeleton horses which also keep their normal friendliness and seem to be the least far gone of these undead mobs not only being still domesticatable but being even easier to domesticate. I originally assumed that the undead virus only makes humans violent but that is simply not true because Phantoms and the wither are also not friendly. The biggest weird detail in all of this is that other undead mobs seem to still see these creatures as natural allies with skeletons riding skeleton horses and withers never attacking anything that is already undead. 5. I think that the fox is most likely the most intelligent and possibly important mob that's completely a wild animal (meaning it has no building ability, doesn't exist in its own structure, can't trade, and doesn't have the ability to create a full society) I think that because they are one of 6 mobs that sleep (you, villagers, foxes, 3 illigers) which as you established in the Phantoms video is already important they also have the ability to do several other things that very few can do including using totems of undying, enchantments on weapons, and chorus Fruit, and also can sometimes be seen holding emeralds that weren't given to them and seem to care about them a bit more than other non food items which may have even inspired the villagers to hold a similar appreciation for emeralds although that and the rest of this is just speculation I think two possible explanations for this are that they could be some sort of ancestor to either villagers or ancient builders although it's kinda hard to place because they have the emerald connection to villagers but can do other things like defend themselves although it could be a common ancestor for both and then my second idea take a trip even further through speculation town and a bit into the early stages of creepy pasta Avenue with the possibility that they once were villagers or ancient builders (again it's kinda hard to place) who were turned by a magic enemy with the most likely culprit being the illigers but another possibility is that the illigers themselves might have accidentally turned some of there kind into foxes although that's unlikely because foxes are only hostile when something attacks it first and even then tend to prefer running away. Anyway foxes have a ton of weird and specific properties that I'd love to see your interpretations on. So those are all my pitches.

Examining the game from what's within the game is a completely valid way of interpreting it. As a lit major we were taught this was called new criticism. That the author is dead the moment the text is read by someone else, and that the text itself holds more weight than whatever statements the author has on the topic.

I'm gonna take this time to add somethings about his theories 1. I believe that piglins are what happens when a pig wanders into the soulsand valley the pig becomes fused with a soul the same logic also explains why soulsand valleys have more wither and regular skeletons and explains how they know some human stuff but not all human stuff 2. hoglins are pigs who adapted to the nether this why piglins hunt them like humans did 3.The zombie apocalypse has recently somethings like underwater ruins desert temples and ocean monuments that would have broken into a million pieces are fine 4.The builder civilization was a brutal cast society this is explained by the fact that the illagers are look vaguely similiar but different and the fact that they avoid each other (kinda like old India) in the time it would take for the building to decay to their current point they could not have split so far.I don't know who was dominant 5.There were different civilizations because of different structures clothing ect. 5a. The ocean civilizations where one they would have been rich merchants as evidenced by their very large religious monuments and use of more expensive stone also they had a different building style not seen anywhere else 5b. The desert civilization would have been another they would have been another they would have a decently rich society they would have had a nobility as evidenced by there temples these would have been made to pass them onto the afterlife symbol on the front is a ankh which represented life. 5c. The jungle civilization would have been small in poor based on the trash loot in their temples also jungle societies are always less advanced in real life there now extin 5d. The plains civilization I don't know there's no temples which suggests no public religions thought the lack of this suggests a relative poverty I can't make a conclusive statement same for savana villagers 5e. The snow civilization would have been isolated and poverty as shown by there different building style and lack of temples the igloos probably show a dedication to science 5f. The swamp civilization would have been a collection of semi nomadic or nomadic herders or hunter gatherer tribes and poor due to the dense vegitation and lack of any rememants at all they would have been outsiders who weren't worth invaded had a warrior culture do to constant conflict and would travel outside of there villages to trade

9:56 the main purpose of these "lore" objects is not to help the player examine the world. The main purpose is to provide an interesting object or thing to see and explore in the world, or a place to find new items. They add a lot more interest to exploration and discovery. However, they're all layered with consistency and common threads, which creates the suggestions of lore. I think that the suggestion of lore is an intended thing, but I think the concept of something interesting to see comes first. I think a few of them were firstly lore suggestions, like ruined portals, end ships, and a few others. But I think most in-game lore objects are landmarks first. Villages were added because Mojang wanted to have friendly towns. Woodland mansions and Illager outposts were added to justify village raids, etc.

Funny thing is, if we only go by what exists in game, also considering the actual games release timeline, there is actual evidence for the "ancient builders" For starters, there are a few things different about the modern playable character and the original humanoid playable character. The original player character had a different voice and its movement was very unhuman, flailing its limbs around wildly. That being predates every single structure, and all mobs, and was immortal, because survival mode was added later. This "ancient builder" could literally only do 1 thing, and that is build, by placing and destroying blocks. Obviously that would make the modern player character related to the ancient builder.

I really appreciate this form of thinking. It is practical and a lot more definitive than random guessing. At the end of the day, most things were likely added because the devs thought it would be cool as a concept, then tied in the story subtly. There likely is an overall arching idea, with the how's and why's left to the imagination of the player. While I'm personally one to prefer specific details, Minecraft does its storytelling in such a masterful way that you simply *can't* appreciate it even if it's not a method you prefer.

With Minecraft, Minecraft Dungeons, and Minecraft Legends, I definitely think they exist within seperate canons. The games are too vastly different for it to make any sense if they all take place in the same universe. Rather, some aspects of the games lore overlaps with each other... A popular concept is that Legends is an actual legends told by the Villagers, a story based on a real event but exaggerated and changed over time to be mostly a myth with some slight truth mixed in. As for Dungeons I just think its an entirely different dimension, but has the same base concepts for how the universe works and stuff, hence why there are all the same creatures like Creepers, Zombies, Skeletons, Villagers, Illagers, Endermen and etc. but also mobs that don't show up in regular Minecraft. Minecraft Dungeons also doesn't have frogs, allays, sniffers, or wardens (but that may just be because they're more recent additions to the game).

Written/spelled out lore is cool of course (depending on how it's used), but I think a "writing out the story" approach for minecraft would heavily contrast with the rest of the game. the layer of mystery and intrigue and endless possibilites I think is what makes it so interesting.
