Thank you so much for this video. I just did my first tri (oly) and I didn't realize how slow I was compared to everyone else on the bike portion, and I dogged myself for the entire 20-something mile ride for getting passed, and then passed again, and then passed again, and then passed again, and then... You get it. By the time I got to the run, I was in such a crummy headspace that I don't think I ran as well as I could have. I want to make tris a part of my summer racing and I'm determined to go back to that same race next year and do better. This video will definitely help!!

Great discussion. I am doing my first sprint triathlon soon and find it soo easy to fall into the 'comparison' trap! Silly because I am a runner and understand that!

This is a nice discussion of the mindset of a racer/runner/etc. I often suffer from comparing myself to the more faster, experienced runners. But I remember what my mom always tells me. Just to have fun. If I cannot obtain a faster PR, at least there is food after the race :D

Glad your posting videos again. I'm a swimmer, how do you get over the hurdle of everyone catching up on the bike and the run, it really kills my confidence?

Here is another perspective for you: most triathletes are probably jealous of your swim prowess! Use your strengths to your advantage and don't fret your weaknesses.

Thank you! This is an awesome video, and I so appreciate you dealing with the mental aspects of competing. Quick question...I'm doing a half marathon in October. Would your suggestions still apply? Or are they triathlon specific?
