After the boom of Javelin Throw in India after Tokyo Olympics, I dove deep into all the major tournaments in the past and watched almost everything available on KZbin. The legacy that Germany has established in this throwing event is amazing. Vetter, Weber, Hofmann and You. I have always loved your style and consistency the best

Very concise explanations in all of your videos. Thank you. I am 70 years old now, but have been asked to introduce our local high school to javelin throw. These really help and I will be showing them in a classroom setting.

Thanks Thomas for sharing your knowledge so freely with us. I am 56 years old, taking up the javelin again after 40 years, to compete in Masters Athletics! I wish I had videos like this when I was learning as a teenager in Australia. We had no coaches, no books, no videos...nothing! Your videos are fantastic - well explained, friendly and super helpful!

Around 4:55, when you extend your left foot forward, why are you reaching it into the air about 30 cm/12 in, instead of having it close to the ground? It seems like you would lose speed. Is it because when the left foot strikes down, you can grab the ground and accelerate forward more aggressively? Or is it more of a positional feeling? Also, do you recommend doing cross overs over objects or would there be too much up and down motion? Do you have an opinion on doing crossovers up and down hills? Thank you for you videos. In a future video, it may help some people if you point out athletes doing certain movements wrong as well. I wanted to tell you that I've been enjoying your series so far.
@thomasroehler_2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the detailed feedback and input. Reaching up is definitely not a goal or idea but it‘s a follow of grabbing the ground and reaching forward trying to increase step length. We do talk about individual optimum, some will need to reach a bit higher, some will have the best feeling closer to ground - all that matters is that any reaching is not affecting upper body position and rhythm. We have been discussing the „common mistake“ idea for some videos bit are still not sure wether it‘s a good or bad idea as for training progress we always work with good examples….
