When she spreads the two strands, and creates the little loop, she pulls the pearl through the loop… then tightens the threads. I had to pause a few times and study it. And successfully just did it. I hope you get it👍🏽🐢🤗🦪

Why can't she do a better job of showing exactly what happens after pulling the two strings apart. What does she do with the pearl? She does not put the pearl through the loop. Not a good teacher, I fear!

Watch carefully. The whole strand of finished pearls is passed through the loop. Looks like one pearl but it's the whole strand.

If you don't have professionally re-reamed pearl hole edges, the cotton suggested by the author, Rimmoto, will eventually fray. Use pearl "silk" which has the needle on it already, cones in colors plus white and black, sold by thread size in mm. You need to know the mm of your pearl holes. You'll thread all the pearls on, add a small but appropriate length of gimp, or French wire, for your clasp hole, thread on half the clasp, then back thru the pearls again. Knot or secure the 2 thread ends together with tape or stringing spring. Push all but the pearl closest to the clasp to the thread ends. Withe clasp end over the Fr.wire, firmly snug the 1st pearl to the Fr.wire ends making it form a loop. Start tying knots & moving pearls down. The 1st knot is clearer than the 2nd. Form a loop w/thumb of thread holding hand and use thumb of pearl holding hand to open loop while pushing the knotted pearls thru that loop with forefinger of pearl holding hand. Sinch the knot snug to the pearl, not super tight against it. Bring down next pearl again snug against the knot, repeat.

Because this guarantees the knot properly placed, not spaced too far from the pearl. Plus it's 2 threads, always better than 1.

The most difficult part of making a pearl necklace is securing the ends onto whichever fastener is going to be used. Even if you tie the knots in between the pearls in between, if you don't know how to complete the necklace, it's no use.

Pearl silk cord, comes wound on a card with needle attached and sold by thread size in mm. Cotton will not last, it frays easier at the pearl hole edges.

They recommend pure silk thread and to reinforce it with natural beeswax (it's optional if you don't have any or don't know how to use beeswax).They say Griffin is the best silk thread. Be careful because of the size of the thread: the bigger your pearls, the thicker your silk thread should be. Always use more silk than the length of the necklace because you will have to knot. Hope this helps
