Liking the longer more in-depth vids. Devon Larratt is extremely invested both spiritually as well as physically. He teaches a solid lesson for us all in that he displays discipline like few others. Nothing false in him either, a very genuine man. I relate to him from his military background, and for me, coming from a PIR(Parachute Infantry Regiment) I understand Devon's approach, his discipline in his day to day, for those of us who share the "warrior spirit" it is considered failure to skip training or to be inactive. We're different than others, we confront fear where most would yield to it, and it really doesn't matter about being in the military, its something in our DNA, we're born with it, and this is certainly not limited to Arm Wrestling.

I don't think Devon and most arm wrestlers but especially Devon I don't think they let us fans and other arm wrestlers in on how they really train lol. I'd say Devon does a lot of jogging or running for that cardio he has. Probably what he did in the military to have so much cardio especially at his age. His cardio is far beyond arm wrestlers half his age lol

It seems like his method of attack is two fold. 1) Train outside movements to tire out opponent. 2) All the years of training inside finishes off the opponent. This is Devons final form. Scary.

Thanks PEP, for this amazing content. I hv recently started training for arm wrestling, what i noticed that even though i m stronger in hook, i hv seen toproll technique has a lot more longevity. I hv shifted my training to more pronation, back pressure. I do train my side pressure but mostly for isometrics or Statics

Great video! I’ve been using a bunch of exercises I’ve learned from Devon to rehab my arm after an ulnar nerve injury. If you look at where the pronator muscle is on the inner elbow it travels right above the ulnar nerve! I’ve been doing lots of other stuff as well but rolling has been absolutely amazing for healing my inner elbow. I did 5lbs for 6 months, then 10lbs for 6 months, now I’ve been using 20lbs for 6 months and not too long ago I did 40lbs for the first time!

Couldn't agree more with the last segment of the video. I think it's less important to study Devon's CURRENT training methods and more important to look at his development through his entire career. Over his decades of arm wrestling he has developed strengths and techniques that once developed may not need to be trained as frequently but require a lot of training and table time just to unlock. So early on he may have needed to train cupping and top rolling a ton just to become proficient at them but now that he's at his current level he just needs to training rising.

It all depends on your anatomy and pulling style. If youre a short thick guy with short arm and small hand, doing only rising and rolling would be a huge mistake. It works for Devon because he pretty much always has a longer arm than his opponent, meaning controlling the high ground and toprolling is the anatomically most efficient move for him. If youre built like Daniel Procopcuic or Sasho Andreev, youre likely better off training the cup and hook, since you basically never get the high hand control for free, like Devon.
@qwe_398
@qwe_398 Жыл бұрын
No. Anotomy is only excuse to not train top roll. devon was a champion with hook training. You can be top roller or hook puller. It doesn't have so much to do with anatomy.
@TheChosenOne2023
@TheChosenOne2023 11 ай бұрын
@qwe_398 I get what you're saying but you definitely won't be a world class Low-Hander for instance if you are a short armed small hand person and were at the same level with someone with a much longer arm and bigger hand. Can't deny that Anatomy does play a huge role
@qwe_398
@qwe_398 11 ай бұрын
@@TheChosenOne2023 what. You absolutely can in your weight class. For example there is an janis who is world class low hand top roller. If you have shorter arms it is clear that you will have smaller body, that directly means your weight class will be lower compared to the super heavy weight class. THERE IS NO POINT FROM YOUR COMMENT
@TheChosenOne2023
@TheChosenOne2023 11 ай бұрын
@@qwe_398 I guess I meant more in the sense if you were a low hand toproller and you had a clone of yourself with the same strengths, only difference being that the clone has a longer arm and bigger hand/fingers, you will have much more problems low handing him then he will with you. Not saying you can't train it and be very good at it, just saying that some people are more built for a move than others and at the absolute elite level all of that matters. Janis style works better for him because most of those guys are Hookers in his class so it plays right into his LHTR, but he goes against a toproller like Cobra Rhoads with a long arm and he can't get his LHTR engaged

If you disregard strength, height, weight etc.... and just rank every arm-wrestler ever, by skill/technique alone, people who can hang with Devon are hard to find. Ermes, maybe John B, Andrey, and top Denis Cyplenkov. But skill and experience are only 50% of the equation. That is why I love arm wrestling so much. So many things are contributing and working in tandem with each other, to create monsters of the sport.
@PV75445
@PV75445 Жыл бұрын
In terms of pure skill the few people that can rival Devon are Brzenk, Prudnyk, and Denis. Pushkar usually relied on his explosiveness and pure strength, Ermes is young and from the loss against Devon we can see he still has much to learn.

Whatever biomechanical study Devon’s training methods is based on, it’s a matter of fact that “No Limits” doesn’t have the highest raw strength in armwrestling. Devon’s endurance is one of the best ones in the history of the sport. However, what makes him a legend of the sport is not even that. It’s the combination of technicality, versatility and table IQ. Technicality is the skill of executing techniques in an almost perfect way. Versatility is the skill of knowing how to execute a high number of techniques, if not all of them. Table IQ (also called ‘table intelligence’) is mainly the skill of knowing when it’s better to use a certain technique rather than another one. Of course, to acquire these skills, experience is fundamental.

Basic strength training principles are always: More simple and stable lifts produce higher rate of output force and are better for gaining strength. He is definitely coordinated enough because of his endless amounts on the table. Training on the pulley system doesn’t need to be more effective, just because they look more like armwrestling. Specific Trainingg is not lookalike training ;)

Sports science tells us that training with sports-specific exercises is the most efficient as it most closely transfers to the particular sport in question, take a look at Chinese weightlifters and their accessory lifts, or Japanese javelin throwers and their training regimens. There are some solid case studies to suggest that this type of training works, provided the athlete has the necessary base fitness.
