@@Nnavy14 I think his videos are usually good quality, but this was extremely generic. Free play: boom the ball. Pros say this a lot. Offensive packs: hit the ball as the creator intended. That's common sense. Defensive: aim to clear the balls properly with saves. Then: here's my training pack. Good pack and took effort. Best part of the video. The rest of it is really common sense imo.

Your training pack is too demanding for me. For now at least. But this only means that I can use this training pack over and over again until I'll be good enough (eventually) to complete it on the hardest stage. Honestly: the idea to use the timer in order to give feedback on your gamespeed is genius. I'd love to see a defensive training pack from you with the same "hit the ball before the last beep" concept :)

Another tip for custom training packs is to make sure you get power on the ball rather than just tapping it towards goal as it bounces 3 times before it goes into the net. Focusing on getting boomer hits consistently rather than barely hitting towards goal for an easy save for the opponent is very beneficial.

The way i started is much like how Sceylo mentioned with looking at your opponents point of view, but the biggest thing is with practice comes better awareness in this game. a big part of building that awarness (how i started) or as you mentioned how to know what your looking for is to save every game you play, and grab some replays off ballchasing.com/ or the pro-replay google drive (drive.google.com/drive/folders/1z2WzNRlR5D6S99iupckuteBNm8HAe7Xd). to start look at every goal scored and try to notate where your team or the enemy team (do both) gave up the goal. Was it third skipping back post rotation, maybe first man gave up free possession, Lack of backboard defense maybe, possibly even a mechanical error? Alot of learning how to do your own replays is learning how goals are scored and saved. Eventually from seeing certain rotation choices or positioning choices go poorly and a goal being scored or given up youll be able to identify it even in situations where the opponent might have missed the punishment oppertunity. Anyway thats the free way to do it if wayton never makes a video about it. The payed option is to pay a coach to teach you and walk you through some replays together so you understand how they look at the game better.

Love these videos, the only thing i would add into the custom training portion, especially for any shot accuracy or striker training with aerials, hold boost the whole way through your aerial. Your jump timing should be at a time where you can boost all the way to the ball before your hit, if you have to throttle or let go of the boost to properly hit the ball your jump timing was off. Obviously in game or in training you'll never be 100% but its a good way to know if your being as fast as possible while also no prejumping the aerial, As an example notice how wayton boosts until he hits the ball with each shot (minus the small throttle on his double jump, ideally hell fix this with practice) There is little to no wasted momentum since every aerial is taken as straight as possible.

As somebody who more recently started (about a week ago) sitting in freeplay for an hour or two a day and just working on playing fast and hitting the ball with speed, your mechanics follow with that. I have found that muscle memory starts to take over and I feel even much better at the game than I was even a week ago. @@Rodriguo322 what? No, you shouldn't go for very many high aerials in 1s anyways, if you miss you just give them the ball and an open net. The pack is so you can practice reaching the ball at the right time, and to help realize when that time is. It also helps you reach the ball faster than your opponent by giving you the goal of hitting it on last beep or after. @@UltimateDuck97 ^ This. Pros have proven through their own videos that positioning, tactics and passing effectively beats mechanics every time. Some have even done Road to GC without really boosting until after platinum. I can't consistently air dribble, flick or make ceiling plays; however I can hit a mean pass and rotate properly. That's why I'm C3.

1. Freeplay: Hit the ball as hard and quick as possible - repeatedly. 2. Custom Training: Hit the ball as early as possible and commit/jump at the last possible second. 3. Custom Training Saves: Put the ball somewhere save. Summarizing might help me remember this stuff instead of just forgetting it next time a play the game - it's worth a try ^^

This is what training packs needed. I've always thought training needs a long explanation area for creators to say what the style is, and maybe a have the creator make a ghost car to show what the they intended for it to look like. Maybe even be able to follow the car as a guide. When I was gold and plat, some of the packs were a hair over impossible. In diamond, some of them...well there are still some that are near impossible.

Kept this video in mind for the last 2 months. Finally decided to try out that training pack. I've been c3 for 3 or 4 seasons now... and I can't make a few of the shots or even get to the ball on time. Spent about 30 mins on it and managed to get 4 of them, with shots ON the buzzer; never before. IM SO SLOW OMG. Good stuff though :)

For steam players you can use Bakkus mod to limit boost in custom training. (Custom training tab> slider -1____100 set to 100 or your preferred amount. -1 is unlimited)

Amazing tips. I'm the jump too early guy as I'm a new member to the plat community. The game is now soo much faster so I jump early thinking it's an advantage; especially since my double jump with boost is a crap shoot, random. I think working on these will be Uuuuuge. Thanks

I also reckon you should have added that doing the same training shot over and over is bad, move on from shot to shot quickly because all you will be doing is learning the trajectory of that specific shot. Instead, if you want to repeat shots then you should do a shot which changes every time depending on how you do it, e.g double touch setups and reads or air dribble setup or something similar. Another great vid with helpful tips!

Questions - in free play shouldn’t you also be trying to aim the ball when you hit it and not just ball chase? 2nd - does the training pack created work across all platforms?

On the point of defence training: I've been using bakkes mod in freeplay to simulate shots on goal. I use the defender plugin to simulate a team with high presure and good rotations, taking constant shots on net. I use the redirect(passing) plugin to simulate situations where I'm already in the net and need to predict where the ball will be in the net. I also use the rebound plugin so simulate shots that hit the backboard, and practice clearing them ASAP. I've noticed significant improvement in my defensive speed and recoveries.

I am a total noob but I did play real life hockey for 18 years and the skills really do translate. Since I suck so bad I focus as hard as possible on making good centering passes. I constantly bump off the walls to set up my teammates for easy goals. I try to get as many assists as possible. That is just my two cents from a bad player but a great teammate. :)

My favorite way to warm up is to get into freeplay and practice dribbling and shooting for a bit. Then. I will create a private match of dropshot with an all star bot. Gives me the chance to practice ball chasing and making fast aerial reads while having the luxury of someone hitting the ball to me.

I think the best stadium for free play is the throwback stadium, because it helps you to more accurately aim at the goal as an objective, if your not just ball chasing.
