Straight asian hair girl here!! My hair gets greasy soo fast compared to my friends with non Asian hair. I think it's cause our hair is so smooth and straight that it's easier for oils to just make its way through the hair. Blow drying roots with cold air definitely has helped me go 4+ days without! I'll also be trying your tips. Thank you!:)

I’ve trained my hair to go 6+ days without washes over the past 5 years. Not conditioning my roots was a big help at first, but recently I’ve found that if I don’t condition them lightly, my hair will break at my crown. I’ve also found that dry shampoo makes my hair a lot greasier to the point where I need to wash my hair the next day if I use it, when it used to be a regular part of my routine

@@MoniqueBushee an update on your haircare? A lot of haircare tips have progressed in 2 years and attitudes have changed. Like you said touching hair is bad for oil but its proven for scalp massages to promote hair growth. And its not proven for dirtier hair to grow faster. I personally think smelling bad is a general disservice to society and its easier to become immune to get own bad smell...but others will notice it

@@RaychelRuiz how do you usually wear your hair during the day? I have an incredibly oily scalp naturally but I realised that wearing my hair in a “mid height” ponytail while I’m training my hair makes it so much easier! I can’t wear my hair in a high ponytail because it gets painful and looks stupid after like a day and in a low ponytail the front pieces of my hair fall out around my face and get annoying, but putting it up just high enough for my hair to stay in the ponytail keeps it off of my face so it doesn’t collect the oil from my face and it doesn’t feel like it’s pulled to tightly against my scalp and the oil it produces. I’m washing my hair every four days now, and using dry shampoo on the 2nd and 3rd day. I also use a salicylic acid scalp treatment every other time I wash my hair! I hope you find something that works!

Everytime your hair follicle moves (you touch your hair or it sways if it's out loose) the follicle releases oil, it's lubrication to each hair shaft. Also blood flow to each follicle and nutrients is what aids in growth. Good tips though, I have heavily greasy hair but hate having to double wash every 2-3 days

I have oily scalp and dry ends, and I've been washing my hair three times a week for a long time. If you wash your scalp well, you don't really need to wash every day, unless you went swimming or during humid summers.

One wash per week really gives more opportunities to use higher quality products. I use redkens extreme length and its lasted me from september 2020 - now. And i know i still have a few weeks left of it.

For the past 4 months I’ve gone from washing my hair everyday to once a week. My hair still gets greasy at day 3-4 but still looks decent. I still struggle with touching my hair which is probably why it still gets greasy. But omg it has gotten so much better my hair used to get greasy the SAME DAY I washed it. Just gotta trust the process

I am in the process of training my hair and today is the first time I went 3 days without a wash 😩 LOL it looks wet from all the oil 🤢 but I am being patient and trusting the process. I want to train my hair as healthily as I can- if that makes sense. So I have been using a scalp oil treatment that helps to unclog pores... idk if it’s been helping, obviously it makes my hair look more oily but I figure that it will take a month (or longer) to see results. If you could let me know what you think whenever you get chance I’d really appreciate it! I’m going to go ahead and try to 2 shampoo washing tonight, thanks.

hi! i totally get wanting to train it as healthily as you can - and i know that the process can be a struggle😫. i have never used a scalp treatment so i don’t have much knowledge on that - but i do agree that it will most likely take time to see results from it. training your hair definitely takes more time than we’d like haha and i’d suggest continuing to go three days and eventually you will see your hair starting to produce less oil! (it might take a few weeks though, it totally just depends on your hair type). in the mean time if you do not want to try dry shampoo wearing your hair up might help conceal some of the oily roots. i’d also suggest using a good clarifying shampoo when you double wash it! clarifying shampoo has been the biggest game changer for me when trying to train my hair!☺️ i hope this was helpful.

Dry shampoo is the most ridiculous tip I hear as an alternative to shampooing. Read the ingredients: butane, propane (think lighter fluids), alcohol and other solvents. Then clay or starches. How could that be less damaging than a regular shampoo, and it can't be good for your scalp and lungs either.

Up to now is my second time to wash, today is my usual day to wash; on the second day, and I feel my hair already better, not so oily as the first time and not itching at all!! I’m on high hope!!

i had a broken leg and i could only wash my hair once a month from october to mid december, then i started washing it regularly it would take 7 days to get oily :') but then i started going out more after my leg healed and now it get's oily at like the 3rd day, but i braid it and keep it in plaits for a day or two before washing to extend my time a bit,, i do have psoriasis however so i need to wash my hair more often and with a special shampoo (please do not tell me i need to wash it less for my psoriasis, i've tried everything over the years and washing it more often works best for my skin!!)

haha! I relate to that :) I like to wear my hair up in a loose bun on the top of my head secured with a bobby pin or a hair tie only wrapped around 1-2x to prevent creasing! I've actually found that when i do this i wake up with my curls held nicer and more volume! :)

do you have to use clarifying shampoo? i have allergies so i can only use hypoallergenic shampoo but those dont really come in any special types afaik and if they do im guessing theyre super expensive. similarly, is it possbile to do without dry shampoo? the smell makes me feel sick after a few hours, i cant imagine having that in my hair for days...

From the start, i am washing my hair once a week as I thought shampooing more would damage my roots even tho my scalp is really oily n also when I was in school, i never got time on weekends. Only Sundays. And now when I'm in college i can sometimes wash it twice a week. But then why my hair is still greasy even after i trained it 🙂and even my scalp has produced dandruff last year due to the greasiness

The hands in my hair is a big issue. I try to go multiple days without washing my hair because I definitely used to wash it daily. But I'm still checking my scalp for imperfections and bumps which I then scrape off releasing more oils.

Tip: when I’m on the day before wash day, I comb all of the oil from my scalp to my tips, and then put dry shampoo on my scalp, because the oil produced by our own body is suuuuper healthy for our hair.

You could try a loose braid or loose bun! Try securing with a scrunchie or bobby pin (for bun). It shouldn't cause creases.
