At this point, I really should consider getting the iPhone 14 Pro Max. As the fact my iPhone 8 is so buggy and slow a lot of times, as the fact that the battery health is so low. I will get the iPhone 14 pro max in deep purple, the capacity either in 512gb or 1TB. I will also try to get a case for the 14 pro max in Amazon.

I went from a iPhone 12 Pro Max to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. I transferred my data, settings and apps with the iPhones side by side. It went smoothly. The easiest transfer of data etc I’ve ever done.

I start “New” every year and by starting new iCloud still transfers iMessage, Photos, Music, Contacts, and other Phone info. However what it doesn’t transfer is email and apps, but if you save passwords and whatnot signing into apps and email addresses is fairly simple. By downloading apps again you can get rid of old apps and also apps you don’t use anymore. Plus in my opinion the phone runs faster from from start up because it’s not downloading all of your transferred info from your old iPhone. I like starting new! Most of the info I use on a daily basis gets transferred automatically every year when I upgrade without having to have a restore from iCloud Backup.

You are absolutely right. I transferred all data with quick start from iPhone 11 to 14 pro max. And both phones have the same bugs and battery draining issues.

this is way better than having to backup to itunes and transfer that way or having to buy icloud storage just to transfer data to your new phone. might be an issue if your new phone has less storage than your old and you were using more space than the new phone has.

Went through the whole process last week when moving to my new iPhone SE 3, everything went pretty much smoothly But I use the data migration tool instead of iCloud, I found that to be way easier and time saving Enjoying the experience, but hope to see it getting better with subsequent updates of iOS 16

It is great to see Apple working to make the process as easy as possible. It’s also a good idea to keep the old phone available for a couple weeks just as some insurance should something not work out. Cleaning out the unnecessary stuff on the old phone is also a smart first step.

Thank you for the great video. taking delivery of my new phone in a few days. I am wondering about the notes app and things locked with Face ID. I find that when I change phones I loose access to my notes locked in Face ID. The Notes App asked for a character, letters, numbers password, which does not exist. any suggestions?

Thank you! I was not aware of this type of transfer. Very nice not to have to deal with providers to get cellular moved. I have a iPhone 11 and am waiting for an iPhone 14 Plus to be delivered today. I have watched your video twice and hope it is as straight forward and seamless as you demonstrate. Great video and explanation. I transferred from an iPhone X to a iPhone 14 Pro. Process went well as you described. IWatch was a little buggy. It tried to link 3 times but was unsuccessful. I had to manually unlink from the old iPhone and reset the watch to link to the new iPhone. Thank you for making this video.

Very helpful Aaron. Is there a practical reason or advantage to using the side-by- side method of installation as opposed to doing it from iCloud backup? Also, you might want to advise viewers to sign out of find my phone and iCloud on the old phone before selling it or sending it back to the carrier? The carriers certainly urge users to do so.

One note, if your in a hurry to setup your new iPhone from an old one, suggest you iTunesMac back recovery/setup. Don’t do it via iCloud it takes a loooooot of time, although I have a high speed mesh Wi-Fi at home it is still going on and it’s been almost 3+ hours now….

Thank you for this video. Since I only get a new phone every 5 years or so, I tend to not be too familiar with the transfer process. I am about to upgrade from iPhone 8+ to iPhone 14 Pro. I only do backups through iTunes, because I prefer not to use the cloud. I am interested in using the transfer process you described rather than restoring from an iTunes backup, which I have done in the past. I have done a manual backup of all my photos to my PC ising the Microsoft Windows app on my PC, because I'm planning to start out with a clean slate and no photos on the new iPhone. I plan to only transfer a smaller number of photos from the PC back to the new iPhone 14, after sorting them out on the PC. I'm still a little bit fuzzy on transferring my physical SIM to eSim, but it appears that the transfer software will automatically prompt me through the process. If anything comes to mind that I should watch out for, please reply to this comment and let me know. Thank you.

Thanks for all the great content, Aaron. I just moved my iPhone 13 SIM to 14 Pro eSIM without issue. I now plan on resetting the 13 to prepare it for handing down to my daughter, who is currently using 11 Pro Max. Would you recommend converting the physical SIM to eSIM on her 11 Pro Max prior to transferring to the 13, or just transfer the physical SIM? Hope that makes sense. I converted the physical SIM on my 13 earlier this week with Verizon and the process was painless, though I’m uncertain if it aids the transfer process. Thanks.

Id say keep the physical sim for now. At least when u hand me down they can just back up from iCloud then swap the sim. Just esim for them when they get the iPhone 14 in the future.

Another hurdle: I was not able to activate the eSIM myself. I had to call AT&T. They had to activate the iphone 14 Pro, deactivate my XR, and then I had to restart both phones and go back into settings on the new phone to then activate the eSIM. It was a quick process, but glad I was doing it during normal business hours.

This is true. I wish I saw this video on Friday, but I saw that doing the transfer from phone to phone was going to take 2 hours plus. Now granted, sometimes the time decreases once you get started. But I didn’t want to chance that since I knew in 2 hours I needed to make an appointment. So I did it from the backup of iCloud, which gave me two additional things I had to do later. Which was unpaid my AirPod Pros from the previous phone and paid them to my 14PM because it kept saying an unknown item was traveling with me. The watch just had to be paired, which I don’t even remember how I got that to work. But that was weird too. But the AirPods thing was aggravating. But no issues with my AirTags. My keys didn’t signal any unknown device traveling with me.

First thing I've noticed is the only thing in my apple wallet that has transferred over is the card I have attached to apple pay. None of my other membership cards or anything else in Wallet transferred to the new phone.

Upgraded my wife’s purple iPhone 11 to a deep purple iPhone 14 ProMax. Transfer is a snap just as Aaron shows in this video, fwiw, my carrier is Xfinity Mobile, eSIM setup is basically one click on their app on a phone purchased through them. The old phone was removed and the new phone was activated in under a minute. When setting up the watch I used “use existing watch”, that took a minute or two and worked great. She loves the Dynamic Island but didn’t care for always on so that’s now off.

@@colbymoss1892 the only problem I had was it wouldn’t transfer cellular to new phone. Had to go to Verizon for that. SIM card to esim didn’t work for me.
