Now it’s been only 4 days since I’ve started using benzoyl peroxide 10%, (same formula of zapzyt in my country) and it’s almost everything gone! 11:10 - It's not just benzoyl peroxide that has been left on the skin that bleaches stuff, because I found that after a shower after using it on my arm pits (as recommended by Dr Dray to replace deodorant and yes it does work), when I dry my armpits, that bleaches the heck out of the towel (after a lot of rinsing). Now I think this definitely has something to do with my underarm hair, like maybe it's soaking it up a bit and it's not all rinsing out or something I dunno. A lot of surface area with the hair. Beats me. Clearly this doesn't happen with other areas of the body or Dr Dray would say so, and she doesn't have hairy armpits (she does the same thing). So if I care about the particular towel, I let my armpits airdry. But once I'm dry, nothing is going to get bleached anymore.

Acne Free has a cleanser that is 2.5% BP, a milk texture and quite gentle! I know just about every other Acne Free product is junk, except this one. It’s the Oil Free Acne Cleanser. I can’t stand leave on BP products because they bleach. I just use it as a short contact therapy “mask”. Apply, leave on a few minutes, wash off in the shower. I believe CeraVe is also coming out with a foaming 5% BP wash. I use the La roche Posay Adapalene and love it! Somehow it seems to spread much more smoothly than Differin, and it’s a better buy when you have 20% off coupons for Walgreens and Lovelyskin!

@Shady Lady I think I start to have a rough skin after I use all type of products that my sister bought because I want to make my skin to be smoother but insisted my skin get rougher. My adviser for people who still have a smooth skin is to stay with whatever cream or soap they using. Don’t try out other stuff unless they want bumpy skin.

Happy Friday Dr Dray and everyone .This was wonderful . I still have acne prone skin at 56 and I am really enjoying the Zapzyt SA cleanser in the AM. I tried benzyole wash at night and the next morning my face was hot and my jaw was red like a sunburn . It took a few days to calm down . I have also switched to fragrance free products which has made a big difference . Have a great weekend

Dr Dray thank you so very much for all the information. I just have a question. Last week I started Tretinoin 0.025% I am 28 years old that’s why I chose tretinoin because of its anti-aging effect, I suffer from comedonal acne (it gets really bad sometimes) but since you didn’t mention it on the video I wanted to ask if tretinoin would also be effective and enough to get rid of my comedonal acne (which is my main skin concern currently) or is Adapalene a better option for comedonal acne? Thank you so very much for your reply or if someone else knows I would also appreciate your comments 🙏🏼

The problem is right now is I have a damaged skin barrier and I have hundreds of comedones on my face. I want to use these actives but my skin barrier is awful. Dry and flaky and red and constantly inflamed. I've only been using hyaluronic acid and vaseline on my face for the past week and a half and I plan to for the next month to help with my skin. However, I have hundreds of comedones that are stressing me the hell out. I used to have perfect clear skin and now it looks like garbage and I'm beyond stressed. I'm not really sure what to do at this point.
@DevashReeo44 жыл бұрын
Hi you can try using CeraVe Salicylic acid lotion. In that way you are managing the barrier plus the Salicylic acid will deal with those comedones. I think the vaseline you are using might not help your case as it will end up clogging your pores more. On the other hand if you just want to focus on repairing your barrier, just use the Cerave in the tub moisturizer.

Hello Dr. Dray. I really love your videos. Can you please suggest me something? I have oily skin with blackheads and pimple marks. In the Morning, I use this SA cleanser, followed by Garnier Vit C serum, and La roche posay Sunscreen. In the evening, I again use SA facewash, followed by Hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide based moisturizer. Is this alright, or do I need to change something? :)

I am confused about the step by step. May I know how to use the products mentioned in your bio step by step? There are many washes then toners I am not sure how to do step by step. Would love to know your advice about this. Also, may I use niacinamide particularly the ordinary? Because I have super oily acne prone skin. Thank you!

If not idk wtf to even try anymore. Sometimes I don’t even put moisturizer so that my pores don’t clog but I still somehow get them. Can anybody help? Please
@bramblestar19244 жыл бұрын
You might have a damaged skin barrier, which can be a cause of acne. To fix that use a good moisturizer. I’d recommend CeraVe moisturizing cream for normal to dry skin. It’s noncomedogenic and it has 3 ceramides to help repair the skin barrier. Steaming your face can also help loosen any dirt if you haven’t tried that yet. Also keep in mind that it can take a few months for acne to clear up. I hope this helps. :)

Would you recommend using Lactic Acid to treat closed comedones? I’ve beusing the ordinary 5% for about 3 months and it’s helped stop the comedones from developing into raging red bumps, but I want to keep the comedones at bay. I spoke to an ordinary team meme er and they recommended that I move to using the 10% and seeing if there are better results

Hi Dr. Dray! I tried differin on one half of my face on my comedonal acne as a test and after 5 months I was still purging on the treated side with no end in sight and severe scarring so I stopped. I’m wondering if I would have the same reaction to other topical meds in the retinoid family or if something like retin A may have a different effect. I don’t want to put myself through more months of scarring for nothing. I use a SA wash and BP gel which keeps my comedonal acne from turning into inflammatory cystic acne but nothing seems to budge the comedones.
