Instead of doing a to do list maybe try think of something like "if I don't draft/dot point this paragraph I can't use my phone for one hour" so you set 'punishment' so while you do get that boost for completing something you can also set accountability for yourself when to do lists don't work.

I loved the video! I am a professional procrastinator, it's so bad that almost nothing can get me out of it anymore, or the tricks only work twice or something. Over the years I have found quite a few methods to get more motivated though: 1. Make the task you want to do visible! Leave your study books on your desk before you go to bed or put on your workout clothes right after you get up so you'll be reminded of the stuff you have to do :) 2. Do something (semi)productive as a way of procrastinating to get you in the mood of being productive! It'll help you feel better and get your motivation up so it's easier to break the procrastinating cycle. 3. This one's pretty much been covered in the video already, but write lists! Visualising what has to be done often helps me with actually getting to work. If you have too much stuff to do, though, it might be a good idea to finish some tasks before writing the list (but still including the tasks you already finished) so it doesn't seem as overwhelming! I often find myself staring at my immense to do list & ending up being so scared of it all that I just yeet to my bed and continue reading my book or watching KZbin xD Anyway, I hope anyone gets some benefits from these tips and GOOD LUCK! ♥️

We used to do a sort of 2-minute method in my HS English class. When we were assigned a big essay that week the teacher would give us like maybe 10 minutes to work on it everyday in class and then come look at what we had done. I don't know why but it seemed a lot more easier to write in those 10 minutes then when I had hours of free time outside of school. Especially when he'd come by to look at the work, it like held me more accountable. Some days I wouldn't even get in the mood to write but others I was just in the zone and I got so much more done and it gave me starting point for where to continue off when I got home.

3 little things that help me: 1- put some LoFi upbeat music. 2- going on my motivation board on pinterest and being like “yassss I can do this” 3- literally just thinking (this works particularly good with school/college) “i have to do it eventually so might as well do it now and then I’ll be done” and normally you will at least start the task and that’s good cause now you just have to finish it

In my experience similar to the "Just One Step" method I have found it very useful esspecially since I have ADHD and small tasks can seem overwheling to just write down everything I need to do and how long it will take me and it helps me get a kick by doing the smaller tasks first and then getting into a flow to take on bigger more difficult steps.

Yes! The last method is my favorite. I will be sitting on my computer procrastinating my work and I'll go "Okay, well at least make a new document. Then you can go back to the video." and then if I take any sort of break I'll be like "okay, well at least open up the prompt/rubric." Those two things are like the easiest starting points for preparing to do an assignment.

that progress bar trick is super useful, i do the same thing with my workouts where i make slashes for each set and when i can make the slash an 'X' and 'cut down my enemy' its satisfying to complete the sets and eliminate that work to do!
