How To Trust Yourself | Tapping With Renee

Trusting ourselves requires us to have self-esteem and to believe in ourselves. It means we have enough confidence to value what we think, feel and believe and to stand behind it. It means that we trust ourselves to make the best decision possible with the information we have in that given moment. It means we trust our intuition, our knowledge, and accept responsibility for our actions.
If we grew up with narcissistic abuse or with dysfunction in our family, we learned that we could not trust ourselves and to continually seek out the validation of others to affirm that we were ok. In this environment we were also fed a continual stream of fear and doubt that made it nearly impossible to have a strong sense of self. We learned to rely up on others to a point where we were dependent.
These fear and doubt based messages taught us to externalize our power and get validation from outside of ourselves. This denied us the opportunity to own our power and trust ourselves. The truth is, we are fully capable of trusting ourselves, believing in ourselves and having self-esteem. We just have to change some of the old beliefs we learned and see that they are no longer true.
