Hi! I just bought a 98 volvo S70 and I stupidly locked myself out of my radio. Your video helped me out so much and I have a radio again! Thank you!
@SgtRet9 жыл бұрын
The fact that it is "ON" when the screen says "OFF" is what was throwing me using the manual instructions. I assumed, until you enlightened me, that pushing the power button to remove the word "OFF" turned it on. How foolish of me!! Thanks for finally showing me how to get this $#*$*@$% radio to work again.

My 97 Volvo is new to me and the radio went out. Instead of thinking to just chuck it and buy another one, I just looked on KZbin and found your video. The code part was the key: VERY HELPFUL!!! I look forward to enjoying music again--praise the Lord, and thanks, my friend!

Thank you very much. Your tutorial solved our problem. The instructions in the manual on how to reset the sound system are misleading, when they say to leave the stereo powered ON for two hours, its design gives mixed signals: When I see a dead LCD display, the system looks OFF to me. When I see a display lit up it looks ON to me, and if the lit up display shows the OFF nonetheless, I interpret it as the Power is ON but the radio, CD, or tape functions are OFF. So, instead of saying that 'the unit must be turned on' (for two hours) the manual should simply say to leave the system with the display blank. We've also appreciated your tutorial on how to change the sparkplugs. Thanks again for your generosity.
@RobertDIY10 жыл бұрын
***** Yes, the radio should be left on, with the display showing OFF (if locked). Thanks for watching.

The radio could be blown. You can try putting it into another Volvo that it will fit to see if it works there. I have had several of them apart and have never seen any internal fuse.
@RobertDIY11 жыл бұрын
The ignition has 4 positions. 0 = Off I = Accessory II = Run III = Start You have to allow the radio to reset by turning the car ON (II = Run) but not running, let it sit for 2 hours, then it should say CODE. The car and the radio has to be ON. Then enter the proper code. If you enter a 4 digit code that DOES NOT WORK, the screen will say RPT. If you get that message, you have the WRONG code.

The ignition has 4 positions, 0-I-II-III (Off-Accessory-Run-Start). You should try it in Accessory with the radio powered on for 2 hours. If that doesn't work, leave it in the Run position for 2 hours with the radio powered on. It should display CODE in one of those modes. If that does not work, ship it to me and I will see what I can do.

@RobertDIY9 жыл бұрын
Sgt Ret, I could NOT reply to your message, you must have some lock out setting in your account. At any rate, the radio display messages are pretty tricky. 1. code = Someone has disconnected power to the radio, now the correct code must be entered. 2. rpt = Means that you have successfully entered the WRONG code, repeat that 2 more times and you will be LOCKED OUT. Therefore, enter another DIFFERENT code. 3. oFF means that you have SUCCESSFULLY entered the the WRONG code 3 times and you are now LOCKED OUT of the radio. 4. on = You have successfully entered the CORRECT code and the radio will be useful in about 5 seconds. ;)
