Pneumatic compression pumps and devices are used to treat and reduce swelling in an area of the body, for a wide range of conditions. Medical-grade compression pumps and devices are helpful to reduce swelling and move fluid out of a congested area, which can help improve mobility, lower the risk of wounds, and help avoid infections. In this video, I show how a leg compression pump is used and tips to make setup a little easier.

My vascular Dr ordered a pair of leg garments and pump by Airos. I was shocked that Medicare and my other insurance paid more than $10,000.00. Shocking! I asked how it’s different from those on Amazon and they just assured me this was the product I needed. I’m still thinking 10K is far to much to pay.

18 months ago, on advice from my lymphedema therapist, I bought a Tactile, which has the Velcro closures and a complicated hookup system. I’ve used it twice, and I had to pay for it myself to the tune of $5,000. I’m SO angry about the whole thing. I’m a paraplegic and just can’t the get crazy things on and set up, so there it sits, collecting dust. I had NO idea there were other machines out there that would be much easier for me to use. Ideally, the zip up with an app would be the route to go. I’ve tried searching online on my own but have had little success finding anything. Would you be kind enough to do a video covering the different brands and capabilities? That would be soooo helpful!

If you have swelling you need to be taking 4,700mg of Potassium as long as it doesn’t interfere with any medications. Helps my swelling so so much in addition to these other techniques

I have heart failure so I'm swollen everywhere but it's especially my legs and my ankles and my ankles. Is there a pump that you could recommend on Amazon? My insurance wouldn't approve one. For me

This is a good video explaining the compression pump. I would love to get one, but some of them are over $1,000. I don't know what Medicare would pay for so I just go once a month for an MLD with a local person, which isn't ideal. I know it's not the focus of your channel, but if you could interview someone who knows about costs and what insurance might and might not pay for, it would be helpful.

Besides lymphedema, I have peripheral motor and sensory neuropathy which makes my skin super sensitive to pumping. After completing lymphedema PT at a lymphedema specialty center, I was sent home with a leg pump (like the one used at the center). After a few weeks of home use, I ended up with foot/ankle abrasions, sores, and blood vessel breakage. No matter how many reductions I make to pressure and time on the pump, per doc and PT suggestions, and no matter what I do to protect my foot and ankle (wearing socks, cotton bandages, pads, etc.), skin pain/damage continues. Anyone out there have suggestions for effective barrier I can use on my sensitive foot and ankle to minimize injury and still continue pump use? Thanks for any input. Nancy M.

Hi, I have a question that I hope you can help with. Would ‘Normatec 3 Legs’ air compression be good for lymphedema (I’ve had for many years due to venous statis and neuropathy). Hopefully you have heard of them before and can say if you think they are good. Thank you so much!

Thanks for the great tips. Could you tell me if one brand of pump is more effective than another for legs? If so, can you list them? Wondering mostly about the Entre Plus vs the FLEXITOUCH Plus pumps. Thank you

What is your professional opinion about pneumatic pump such as one I have from Tactile Medical which instead of inflating as this one does, it slowly moves up the leg in a rotational manner. Which do you feel is more effective?

Hi!! I have a question. I have lymphodema in both legs and trunk area. I have a compression suit that is from my waist to my toes. I am supposed to use it daily. I have compression pants and socks that are supposed to go over the thigh. Even with all this, and therapists, I feel as though all the fluid is collecting in my upper thighs and my lower abdomen. Any thoughts or suggestions?? Thanks so much.
