Thank you for the video. I don't completely understand all the Pythagorean formula stuff, but for my uses (measuring lengths), it looks perfect. I just hate hate hate having to reflip flipped measuring tapes or going back and redoing the whole thing because I accidentally let some of the tape roll back in.

My tacklife was working perfectly and I've used these devices for years (I'm a real estate broker), however, I can't get it to read my measurement on the screen any longer. I've changed the battery, but it doesn't show the measurements. The screen shows everything else and I've done all I know to clear it, reset it, and trying to just measure a simple length of a room...no luck. Any solutions or ideas?

Use the same method he said in minute 4:48 but instead of vertically (as he does), do so horizontally with your couch or whatever.

Having dyscalculi (same as dyslexia but with numbers instead) this seemes like a genious devise. Math would have been so much more fun to learn when you see the practical usage, and get a feel for the real distance instead of it being all abstract numbers. Going to buy one now. If I were a teacher, I would so have used this tool for educational purposes. First giving the kiddoes fun things to measure outside, make games out of it, so they get a "feel" for distances, and the different sides to calculate, and then go inside to start with the math book's abstract numbers. At least to have a "baseline". Thanks for your video. I would never have thought of it if I didn't see it. I am definitely going to use this if I ever have kids, when teaching them practical math. And also being a good tool in daily life 😄😄

When we measure the length between spaces .... are we to simply assume the appliance is held perfectly horizontal - because an angle will give a false reading. ????
@BenjamesGo3 жыл бұрын
There is a level on the side of the device which you must check (i.e. if the bubble is on the center) when measuring horizontal distances to ensure accuracy.

That's what I wanted to know as well - the first example in the box shows that it measures from the base of the unit
@fishpaleryder3935 жыл бұрын
@@joekaye508 I figured it out. You can select the reference point whether to measure from top or bottom of the device and will adjust automatically. Some devices actually have 3 reference points including one that is in the middle of the device.

I bought this laser tape based on many reviews like yours but I am very disappointed that no one has been able to show how to calibrate it and yet everyone gave five star reviews, both in Amazon and youtube. This laser tape works great but I could not calibrate. Instruction manual is poorly written. I would appreciate if you can show how to calibrate it or if not please mention that in your review so that people like me won't go and buy it. It works great for now but what to do when I need to calibrate?

if you stick your laser against the wall like you did, you're not measuring the length of the device, it measures from the point of the laser. So it can not be the same as the measure tape.
@TutorialGeek6 жыл бұрын
Most laser distance meters can be configured to measure the distance from the front or back of the device. The meter is configured to know how long the device is. This meter measures from the back of the device by default.
