It's fun watching Bernardo get out of his comfort zone and explore. That's how we grow.

even though what barry teaches seems pretty basic and simple, his stuff is actually genius once you see the benefits and the way he drills fundamental techniques that alot of coaches ignore about footwork. his ebook and various videos on "the rhythm step" really opened my eyes to wastefull movements an habits we all have, an how we can take advantage of them or get rid of them from our games. his mastering the pivot instructional on bjjfanatics/dynamic striking is gold too.

@_A_ theres a difference between someone who is, as you put , a instagram coach, and someone like barry who teaches real effective stuff, but also posts on insta gram. if you havnt seen his actual instructionals or read his book, then you cant really judge the guy from a short clip on here or insta.

In my utmost humble opinion. “ Nothing more rewarding than getting ones thesis validated by those who exceeds oneself in excellence” “ Economy of motion, conservation of energy. No wasted motion” Sincere appreciations for enabling all of us the honor to observe and learn from such peers as yourselves, truly. I felt the same way after striking for 20 plus years and starting to learn wrestling/ grappling/ BJJ and it was an entirely different world, but to be able to learn and grow and see how many rivers from the same source flows, indeed shifted my paradigm to put it lightly. There is always more to learn, always more to comprehend, and the more I’m able to obtain the more I realize how little I do actually understand. A joy to watch Mr Faria, again sincere appreciations for allowing us all to observe you and Mr Barry Robinson work together. Sincere regards. Fellow Martial Artist. Tom Framnes. Norway.

Kind of funny how unexperienced Bernardo is at strinking movement. Respect for doing these drills for the first time on camera. I allways tell my students to take classes outside their comfort zone to develop their movement in general. I think sometimes it is very helpfull to take boxing lessons to become better at Jiu-Jitsu.

Barry's example of stepping the left foot back to switch into a southpaw stance is similar to a technical stand up in jiu jitsu where you go from sitting on your butt to basing on one hand and stepping the same side foot back to stand up into your base.

Low strip drill btw, I like the side side back but go back like your getting out of the way of a strike than slide back in to counter with a cross right head kick roundhouse or something

Repeat this same drill, only every time you step to the left you jab, with the half step back, you throw a straight and then a lead hook. This drill is mean too Be layered once’s the fundamentals are fully programmed, in order for the system to work the steps must be mastered first. Like they say, you have to learn how to walk before you can run

Im confused on one thing so if someone wants to enlighten me please do, he says "if someone has a good left hook and switch kick, we should go to our left" i always thought if someone has good left side attacks you would want to go to the right to get away from those attacks?
@lake0417

The person is facing you to so to go away from the left hook you go to your left which is their right
