There's something to be appreciated about a KZbin guitar lesson that FEELS like an actual guitar lesson. No jump cuts, a few mistakes here and there to show that no one is perfect, and just solid advice that feels natural and not over the top. You have yourself a subscriber. I look forward to pulling this up when I get home.

Eric, I have been playing guitar for a while now (14 years, shit that's half my life) and have always felt like I stopped making progress a long time ago. This video has completely opened up my playing. The way you communicate notes relative to chord shapes and positions is wonderful. I was stuck playing up and down minor blues scales, trying to solo over blues progressions, and it always sounded bland. With 30 minutes of following through a couple of your videos, I feel like I can play the way I always dreamed of playing. Please, please, please keep posting these wonderful lessons.

Eric this is a great tutorial. I have been playing for over 40 years and jammed and taken lessons from pros in genres across the board. You are a natural teacher. The main reason I picked up electric guitar years ago was hearing and seeing Jimi Hendrix play. It blew my mind. Conveying his technique in your way is inspirational! Thank you!

After being struck by Hendrix's first album when I was 14 years old I am picking up the guitar again and trying to play some of his incredible sounds. I am not amazed by young guitarist fascination with his unique styling. His originality exceeded his peers. We speak of him over 50 years after his death in awe of what he accomplished. Thanks for the great lesson! jhv

I think it’s excellent that you speak about the physicality of playing some of these things. Most teachers ignore the changes your body might need to make to help execute a part, and that can often be the critical piece that’s missing and is causing the student most of their frustration. Great job!

Good tips! I fondly recall my 1964 red Fender Mustang, that I got for my last performance in a R&B band in high school. I then made a new hollow body version after high school and played it for another year on gigs. A local music store offered to trade it for a new jazz guitar (Ventura). I changed my focus to jazz and never looked back.

Jamming with other guitarists lately, one of the most useful things I learned on the guitar for improvising is using the major pentatonic scale and then learning where the “Barre 6” chord relates to the D Shape chord of the same key just two frets down the neck. Once you do that, start to recognize the position of double stops as they relate to the roots in that shape, and then take that pattern and apply it near the root in the pattern of the next shape. Repeating licks or arpeggios in this way rapidly helps to understand the “function” of sounds relative to their key and pentatonic shape.

U sir are the genuine article and a REAL guitar professional. I've been running the circle of 5th's lately and stumbled on to this accidently playing by ear. In 5 minutes U've solved and shown me the proper technique on those hammerons. The angle and touch makes the strings sing! if attacked aggressively it just sounds awful. Thanks a million!

VERY nice! Really ended up being a Hendrix/Mayer lesson to me. Those 6th's were John Mayer all the way. Almost a more useful CAGED lesson without using the word, but that's really all the CAGED system boils down to- same shapes being connected and getting you the important scale tones to use for tasty note choices!

first time I've seen one of ur vids, and I can already tell you're an excellent teacher. perfect pace and articulation, makes it so easy to soak it up. plus, my brain has always looked at it from precisely the same perspective, of everything being anchored or existing within the bar chord being played - that and the virtualisation of how u catalogue ur information, makes it amazingly easy for me to pick up what you're putting down. it also gives me a great deal more confidence, as I'm basically self taught and extremely limited in theory and technical knowledge, basically operating on hacks I've learnt which mostly revolve around exactly what ur doing here. I seem to have naturally approched it from the right perspective, or at least, the same perspective as you. thanks for that, was never actually sure about what I was doing haha, cheers

Will definitely be watching more of your videos. KZbin just found you for me and you're mint. Love your independence and sass. Great playing. Thanks for fucking up sometimes, makes it real. To top it all. I didn't feel like I was practicing so that is key for me. Was an easy lesson for a beginner probably even as you can play it at 40 bpm if you really want to and it will still sound half decent and musical. Thanks so much for existing dude.
