An excellent demonstration Harry on how to properly use ground force to one's benefit. I believe the examples you are showing are for a much younger crowd than what I am. As a senior, I have to be more concerned with a swing that is a little less forceful! I do believe that by dialing back a bit and still using your example of ground force, more distant can still be achieved. Well Done Harry!

Yes John, I totally get where you’re coming from with regarding ‘speeding up the motion’ but the concept works even better for senior golfers who struggle with disassociation. Pleased you’ve enjoyed another video!

This is a very different mind set. But I understand now why my compression has suffered when applying a ground force. Like most of use, we were taught to only use two forces in the swing .... lateral and rotational. Under that scenario we have been taught to shift to the lead side and re-center before the apex of the backswing. Adding the third force ( ie Justin Rose ) it seems the weight shift rules change. Will try it.

Yes this is certainly different to the usual moves you see coaches recommend players using but this has worked really well with a lot of my students gain a lot more club head speed effortlessly and therefore more consistency too.

So at top of back swing just go straight down? Don’t squat into lead side?

There are different methods to this move down but the way I teach in this video is straight down into the ground.. Give this a try and see what you think.

@@harryshawgolf I will. I just started golf and I keep hitting off back leg. It’s very frustrating. Played hockey until now at 37. My hand eye are good it’s my weight I get to top of back swing and just leave all weight on back leg and throw hands. So I go back and then small little squat and push off back leg to clear front hip is that correct? I’m very new so I just want to make sure.

When you're keeping the majority of the weight on the trail side to begin that downswing move i'd suggest doing this enough but making sure that you're swing centre (the middle of the chest) from the face on camera angle view, hasn't swayed away from the golf ball (behind the ball) Then the squat and push needs to be exaggerated. Hope this makes sense, if you want me to clarify anything send over a message on Whatsapp, you can use the link on the home page.
