Thank you so much for this very helpful video. We are putting together our IKEA kitchen now, with quartz countertops, and learned from you that these Fixa brackets were NOT included in the list that the IKEA designers/planners prepared for us. Even the planner who sold us the quartz countertop did not include that! The countertop installers are due tomorrow, so we got the brackets just in the nick of time. Without this helpful video (and your whole series) I would NOT have known about that. I bought on of your Tees to thank you too.

I'm with you @claudiakawczynska8791 Our kitchen design item list was over 350 pieces and not one of the was the FIXA bracket... Now, how many do I need? One at the end of each counter run and one between each cabinet? Or some other magic formula? And the IKEA help said one every 12 inches along the BACK of the cabinets? How does that work? Except for the island, the cabinets are hanging on the wall.

Thank you for the video! My kitchen planner lady was a mess. She never mentioned I needed them when I told her I'm putting quartz countertops. Then, when I went to get them from IKEA Brooklyn, they wouldn't honor the 10% off. I had placed my kitchen order during a 10% off event and went to get the brackets 12 days later when the event had ended. She had forgotten a number of items to order too from the final plan. They are supposed to be the experts but they don't know what they're doing. Thankfully, my countertop guy told me about them. I wouldn't want to have a crack after installation, especially after paying thousands of dollars on coutertops

Thank you for this video. I’m installing my kitchen and found these brackets and wasn’t sure what to do either them. I though them leveling the cabinet top and along a span of wall. I hadn’t thought of using them as L brackets and I definitely will.

I can’t seem to find the small pieces you mentioned on the corner cabinet on the back side, can you show me a close up of what those small pieces look like? Just installed the supports but not sure I have these anywhere! Thanks and great video!

They are small rectangular pieces of metal with a hole in the middle. Less than 1/2” x 1”. Not very big.

I guess I'm not understanding the reason for these? Just a little extra support for the MDF with the weight of the quartz on top of it? My Ikea planner didn't include these in my shipment, so I'm wondering if I really need to drive the 2 hours to my nearest Ikea to get these.

I don’t actually know. Hopefully you can ask an IKEA rep. Or just tell them you are doing quartz or granite. That automatically triggers the computer to add it to your order

Hi Kody, we're installing a laundry room and need to hack a 21" IKEA Sektion for a drop in sink and quartz countertop, but IKEA only makes the galvanized ventilated top rail for 24", 30", and 36" inch base cabs. Is there a way to hack these or something else we could use? Thanks for your help!

So you need it 21” wide? I say scrap the top metal piece and just make your own out of white melamine. I just don’t know what you are doing for doors unless the door from the 47” corner cabinet is what you have in mind.

You need that bracket in place so there is no void between the cabinet and the quartz. As for plywood on the underside of the quartz…I’ve never seen it but it could depend on the manufacturer.

Kody, not exactly related to this but if I use and existing dishwasher in an IKEA plan do I have to still order an empty 24" base cabinet for it to get the stuff for the counter top? when I make my plan I used a IKEA dishwasher just to fill the space but I am not buying it but using my existing one. The program doesn't let me put a counter top on that piece when I use existing, so I want to make sure I will get everythnig. If you had to install a quartz counter top over a dishwasher for an IKEA kitchen what would you do? I have a 24" three door on the left and a 30" sink cabinet with undermount sink of the right of the dishwasher space. Thank you for the videos, super helpful.

Sometimes the planner doesn’t allow for small adjustments like you mentioned. But in my experience whenever you place the order with an IKEA rep, they go through the details and you say tell them what you want and don’t want. I’ve always had great & thorough service when ordering in person. As for the quartz top over the DW. It spans right over top. As long you you have support on either side you are good.

Yes that’s a really sleek way. Should be plenty strong. If not use a narrow strip of plywood as a cleat.

These brackets are not available from IKEA Philippines and the requirement for spacers under the granite was never discussed before making the order. Theoretically we could have used any 2 mm spacer, but we decided instead to carve out the 2 mm to make all the standard brackets level with the wood. This gives the granite maximum support on all sides. Since granite in the Philippines is only 20 mm thick, we also added additional galvanized steel supports in the front of each 60 cm wide cabinet, just in case someone decides to sit on the edge of the countertop. These are made from 3/4 inch square tube and can support the weight of one person, unlike the supplied IKEA front brackets.

You could. Then your actual countertop would need to front lip dropped down to hide the plywood. That’s how they did it old school

Hey Cody, I tried to screw the bracket in one predrilled hole that I found but it wouldn't go in. Also the fixa instructions now tell you to make two holes using a hole punch tool and then screw in the screws but that's not working either. Thoughts?

Hi Kody. Would these work for 15" depth Ikea cabinets? When looking at the specs I believe the Fixa bracket is 15 3/8". So possibly they just need to be cut down to size before installation? Thank you.

Hey just watched this video and I have a question about my cabinets which are the sektion cabinets from Ikea. My countertop guy said that the reinforced ventilated top rail I have on my base sink cabinet wouldn't support the quartz countertops that I ordered what would you suggest to go across the front of the cabinet instead? And would you suggest I buy this fixa bracket for all the cabinets?

Hi Kody, I am working on an ikea sektion cabinet 9 foot run cabinet addition. The base cabinets are using the 15" deep cabinets and the sektion hanging rail. Do you know if it is possible to add a quartz countertop to these shallow depth countertops without the legs? The counter would be about 175lbs for the full 9foot run.

I’m not totally sure. I would think that yes the rail would be strong enough. I don’t see why not. I’ve seen cabinets full of dishes and that can be very heavy spread over 1 cabinet versus 9 feet.
