Good day sir! I noticed in your video that you have a base cabinet on each side of the refrigerator which allows you to secure both panels to the base cabinet. In my situation, I'll have one base cabinet on one side of the fridge which allows me to secure that panel to the base cabinet. How would you handle securing the other panel near the bottom since there is no base cabinet? I've thought of a small vertical strip to mount to the wall which can secure the back of the panel since most manufacturers want the fridge 2" from the wall. But what about the front of the side panel where anything inside will lessen the clearance for the fridge? Thank you for your time!

Great point! And I like your vertical strip idea. Sometimes I’ve done the smallest of L-brackets near the front of the fridge. I’ve also made sure it was secure and then siliconed both sides. It won’t go anywhere this way and you avoid the bracket.

Funny, I did this exact same thing on my fridge cabinet last year. I wanted my to give my fridge some breathing room. Great minds. I watched your vids a few yrs ago when I did our ikea kitchen, lots of details others miss & makes you really think & plan things out. Lots of ways to customize things for a finished look.

Hi Kody. I have watched your videos and am thankful for all your information. I do have a question. How do you handle outside corners. I have seen pics of wrap around cabinets but would love some insight on how you would handle this. Thank you.

Hey Kody, how do you handle a fridge panel that is the end of a run so its not floppy?

Fasten to the cabinet above the fridge and L-bracket and silicone the back and bottom to the wall and floor.

Do you think it'll work if you flush the sides and top for a built in look and cut open the bottom of the upper cabinet above the fridge for ventilation? You'll need to sacrifice the cabinet space or half of it. I dont use that space since its so high. Wouldnt that suffice for ventilation?

One guy commented on here that you only need something like 1/4” of air space on the sides. I would of course confirm that with your make and model of fridge. That fridge cabinet is already vented because IKEA is smart like that.

I ordered a 15” depth upper by mistake, would I be able bring the cabinet out and fasten to the gable on each side from inside of cabinet? At the back of cabinet I can even screw L brackets to the underside for extra support, it’s not like that cabinet is going to hold a lot of weight

Yes you can do that. I’ve done it before.

Is it possible to use a 25x90 panel as the fridge panels rather than cutting down the 36x96. It sounds like that size in my cabinet color might be next to impossible to get.

Ya why not! Good idea.

Hello wonderful video and I will do thaton my install to make my LG fridge fit widthwise, but my LG is also full size., so ots 35 inches deep, maybe 30" deep at the hinge. The IKEA over the fridge cabinets are only 24. How would you recommend fitting them so they come out nice like the counter depth fridges do? would we build a box behind to hang the mounting rail or cut the cabinet and make it longer? Great videos, nice work. Wish we had somebody like you in San Diego! Keep up the excellent help

I’ve build a box that mounts to the wall then mount the rail and cabinet to that. Great way to pull that box away from the wall and customize it.

Kody, why did you choose to not cut those flush with the cabinet over the fridge? If you cut them from the top side, the cut portion would be flush with the ceiling and not exposing the "cut". Basically, why did you let the filler panel hand down?

Refrigerators only need 1/8” on the sides and less than 1.0” on top unless it has side vents (most do not). See manufacturers recommendation but that’s pretty standard. Perhaps you haven’t noticed that refrigerators vent through their lower front grille.

@@uptokode I’d still go with this original plan of extra cover panel (although I don’t think it needs to be the special dishwasher return or 36x96 thickness). Those French doors would start gouging into the side panels otherwise. I’ve seen it happen…thankfully not on mine. 🙃
