Thank you, this is exactly what I needed. I was in a panic after restoring my Nano S and I showed an empty wallet. Once I restored my Nano X I could see my crypto. For some reason a year ago I setup both devices but I had two different sets of 24 word recovery passphrases. Following your instructions I setup the Nano S with the correct recovery passphrases from the Nano X and all is well again :)

Ledger Live automatically authenticates (runs the genuine check) every time you connect a new device or enter the "My Ledger" section

I have a Ledger Nano S. Only 3 cryptos fit on it. May I use my Nano S 24 word phrase on my new Nano X? That would give me a backup of only the three cryptos now on my Nano X, the same that are on my Nano S. Right? Now I should be able to use my Nano X as my main wallet and will have a backup on my Nano S for the original 3 cryptos only. I can get a Nano S Plus later.

There is an app for the ledger that you can use the verify your existing recovery phrase: support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007223753-Recovery-Check?docs=true But the best practice is to just write it down carefully and legibly.

Thanks for great video as always. I do have a question. Is there any way to have two portfolios on ledger live on one computer? My purpose of that is that both my wife and I are using one computer. We both have couple of ledgers each but we would like to have two separate portfolios. I know that you can have multiple ledger devices on one application but I really would like to have 2 separate portfolios. I would really appreciate all the answers.

There is no way to do that. It would be nice if Ledger Live had a profile feature. Like or Amazon Prime and Netflix, each family member can have their own profile. Unfortunately Ledger Live does not have that feature. If you want separate profiles, you need to use separate machines. You can however use Windows accounts to achieve the same effect. Go to Windows settings-> Accounts-> Family and other users. Then Choose Add Account. You can create a separate windows account for you or your wife. Once you log in to that other account, you can install Ledger Live and it will be separate from the other Windows account.

Yes you can restore a Ledger Nano X using the 24 word backup from your Ledger Nano S. The backup phrases are interchangeable.

You can use any hardware wallet that supports 24 word recovery phrases. However, some vendors use different derivation paths, so there might be some issues between different cryptos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYfNpGlpmNppm9E

As usual a very useful video on creating a back up....i just recently migrate my metamask wallet to my ledger nano s plus with 12 recovery seed phrase....during the migration process it wasnt giving me an option to write down 24 recovery phrase while setting up my nano ledger s plus..... now i am under the impression that those 12 words will be effectively my recovery phrase for creating a new back up.....am i right to understand this?....shall i use those 12 words recovery phrase to create to back up for my nano ledger s plus? its really confusing...please advice..thanks

If you restored your original Ledger Nano S Plus using a 12 word recovery phrase, then yes. If you wish to create a mirror backup of that Ledger Nano S Plus, you would restore the second Ledger Nano S Plus using that same 12 word phrase.
