If you’re looking to increase positive behaviors and increase language in kids with autism, video modeling can be a great methodology for accomplishing this. Through creating videos, a child is able to watch someone completing an activity and initiate the activity themselves. In the past, I’ve created some videos for past clients where I’m pointing out body parts. One client specifically actually watched these videos and was able expand their language drastically. In today’s video I’ll cover this client and review how video modeling can help kids with autism.

Any suggestions for how to use videos to increase conversion skills? My (4 yo) son has never had an issue gaining words (probably 1000’s by age 2) but he still has difficulty telling stories, answering / asking more complex questions. Thanks for your videos!!

Do u only do behavioral theory with autism? My boyfriend's 7 yr old daughter has other behavior issues. She is not autistic, I believe she has bpd, and narcissistic personality disorder. And I can not find anything good-helpful on KZbin for children that young. And I know that children r not diagnosed with these thing, but I feel she will b at the age of 18. I would really like to get her some help now. I would also like to learn so ways to help her at home. Thank you.

If she has typical language development my courses may not be the best fit. You may try finding a bcba in your area to help train you because no, bcba do not only work with autism all the time!

How often should the child watch the videos?

It depends on the child but it should be daily or frequently.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but if you're trying to get him to say 'hi' and he adds in the body parts, wouldn't that be a little awkward when he tries it for other people? In other words, if someone says 'hi' to him and he starts singing about body parts first, how is that helpful? It sounds like he just scripting.
