I don't have parcel lockers on my new route but on my last route, I used to write the delivery date on each parcel that I put into a parcel locker. After exactly ten days, I'd return them to sender as unclaimed. People need to be trained to pick up their mail regularly. Sometimes I'll put the mail in with the parcels like you do but I'll rubber band up the mail first. The customer can remove it all easily that way.

appreciate the tips. RCA for 2 months, hoping to be full-time someday. Use a PoV but sometimes a LLV is spared. One tip I'm searching for is how to do my casings faster -.- I'm thrown to a new office and route every 2-3 days and the supervisor is surprised I'm not as fast as Regulars at casing. Longest they had me on one route was a PO 80+ miles away from my home, and it was for a week.
@DouglasThompson3 жыл бұрын
Just keep showing up for work. That's the main thing. You could try setting up a mock shelf with some fake mail make every slot a different address. I bet you a supervisor would let you take a shelf home. Or you could just make one. You could switch it up every once in a while to get better at programming your brain. Other than just doing it a lot, there is no way I am aware of to get better. :(

@DouglasThompson2 ай бұрын
@crablsem8777 you'll be fine, go intonation with a good head on your shoulders and be willing to learn. Persistence is literally what will make or break you. I walked 10 miles every day for weeks before I started so it was less of a shock to the body. Stick with it because you will be walking 10-20 miles everyday starting out if your station has walking routes. It's really a great job once you get in the groove of things.

Believe it or not, working for usps as a CCA was my first job! c: later on I transferred into maintenance into ET10 which is electrical technician in P&DC which was nice and got paid pretty good too, also went straight into career/regular, which let me continue my studies! Sometimes, I get nastolgic when I see a USPS truck, I still have my postal ID badge, I wear it behind my current ID badge so I can remember my goofy face, haha 😂

That's a crazy first job to have lol. They got rid of cca's and now there is a more clear path to becoming a regular, good to hear! I moved into maintenance as well and did not take any pay cut as I was already a regular. :)

The best "hack" is to become a more efficient caser and hustle out of the office. If you get out 30 minutes before the next guy you'll have time to deliver your route correctly.

You still working for USPS? Making YT on the clock is a big risk. I for one don't have time to make instructional video's. I've been a city carrier since 2002. NALC 1100 is right around the corner from you.
@DouglasThompson6 жыл бұрын
I was opted on one of our easiest routes for a good while. The regular was on annual for some time and I used my lunch and 10 min breaks to film the video. I dont normally have time to do anything but the multitude of routes I do on a daily basis. We are currently working 12+ hr shifts nearly every day and we are lucky to get 1 day off a week.

Possible the carrier left the package at the station or it was never given to the carrier. Its also possible your route has been divided today and the regular is not present.

Case the red plum and go one bundle I've had some of my fastest days doing that just check the bundle before inserting . Yes red plum inserts can fly all over another reason to one bundle them , and fold , (god my thumbs still hurt ) not have to use a cutter in the truck and get those flying inserts making your truck inside look like a chicken coop. Allow a little more casing time. If they dont let you case dps you still have a manageable two bundle . Man in motion should make the fewest moves . Giddyup
@PunkrockMailman3 жыл бұрын
City carriers don't get the luxury of casing a full coverage mailing, let alone their dps.... we get paid hourly, and we make them pay.
@DouglasThompson3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think it would be better to case everything and bundle it up tight from the station as city carriers but they would just rather stretch our hands wide and mess up our wrists. Lol...
