I pretty much liked everything that Dr. Ted said except for I don't agree with his statement that supplementation including vitamins and minerals has very little or no benefit. If our soil and our animals were raised better and we got more nutrients from our food then yes but in this highly overly deficient environment and an overload of toxins we need that nutritional and supplemental support.

Soil depletion and the way our animals are fed is at the root cause. That coupled on how we grow the food we eat.

Great podcast! This is the first of Ted Naiman’s content I’ve seen, and I love it. He’s great at communicating great dietary advice without overcomplicating it or being confrontational (similar to Stan Efferding).

I've been doing the "harm reduction" method. I lost 30 lbs on the scale, and I've gone down 2 pants sizes. I have a sweet tooth, so I found it easier to eat the Legendary foods to curb the sweet tooth. I'm currently going balls deep, doing 1lb of Extra Lean Ground Beef and 15 eggs/ day. My goal is 200 lbs with single digit body fat. I'm 20lbs away from 200. However, im not sure what fat % I'm at.

Interesting change to the caloriand givee system Dr Ted Naimen suggests: take protein and fibre off classify them as no calories and he explains why. I didn't realise just how hard it is to convert protein into fat.

It’s so great to have someone in the health and fitness space come on and talk in normal language, provide useful information, and who’s not trying to sell us on something. Not saying this is a problem with your show Mark, but there are so many people selling a plan or supplement that seeing someone who just wants to spread helpful information is a breath of fresh air.

They need to stop with all the variations of the product. Just mass produce 90/10 ground beef. Let people add fat/remove fat as they see fit to make it more in line. We don't need 20 variations of bacon from the same company.

Blood work is not to make a knee jerk reaction. Blood work is for Prevention / cancer screening, male PSA for prostrate screening, inflammation screening, and watching liver function,.... Blood work is for Prevention. Later if there are issues, or specific symptoms, then the blood work helps provide clues. For those of you on PEDs, then blood work is critical for things like CBC,.....

I have yet to find a protein bar that does not give me gut issues. I am sure it's the artificial sweeteners that are at the root cause. The fact that they are classified as a UPF is not helpful and I find them saying low sugar of 1.2g is misleading when the nut label shows 32g of TOTAL carbs. What do they think carbs are, if not sugars? May fat content is higher on average than the protein - but the carbs are even lower. Stems from when I was doing OMAD. *** If we use lose a third of the protein through the thermo effect - shouldn't we be factoring that in - when we calculate the NET amount we want. If you want 100 grams then eat 130 grams? If the net amount for the day is 200 grams, then eating 260 grams takes into account that a 1/3 is lost in the breakdown process. *** Penn Jillette Penn and Teller fame. Penn says he ate about five potatoes a day. Penn ate nothing but potatoes, either baked or boiled. No butter, cheese, sour cream, or bacon bits… just plain old potatoes. After 14 days of eating nothing but potatoes, Penn had lost 14 pounds. "A diet of just potatoes will be deficient in vitamins A, E and K, the minerals calcium and selenium, essential fatty acids, protein and dietary fibre. Although they may provide enough iron for a man, they will not provide enough iron for women ***

You wouldn't have to subsidize to help farmers with meat production, you just have to Lobby to get the removal of subsidies for things like corn syrup because they are extremely subsidized which makes them extremely cheap to mass-produce and consume, even if that is a loss to the taxpayer and a loss to the family when it gets you sick. If the government wasn't meddling in things like corn, Farmers would be making far more money and could be producing far better products for us to consume yet everything the government touches or interferes with becomes less efficient and more destructive. They don't hire the best, they hire their friends

I couldn’t get 10 minutes through this without face palming. Yall think protein is a net-zero kcal food source when not accompanied by fat and carbs?! If that was true people doing lean carnivore would be losing fat at astronomical rates. Complete nonsense.

If you did incredibly lean only meats, you would die of rabbit protein poisoning. Not immediately. It would take weeks and weeks for that to happen, probably you would know by how terrible you feel and also by how incredibly lean You would have got.

Except if you were actually listening he said he used to think that and then he provided why he thought that, because when you break down several grams and then replace it with several grams that takes many calories to even break down those grams to him it would reach a net zero. He already said that something he used to think and he still talks about it but it's more of an idea than a statement

If you're not progressing in life and increasing your knowledge then you're at best staying the same or not improving. I'm about the same ages him and similar body though never obese and have had the exact same transformation. Probably the number one thing I've learned through the years is to keep an open mind and always keep learning. You act like this is a bad thing tells us more about you than it does anything else
@arthurfonzarelli9828
@arthurfonzarelli9828 4 ай бұрын
The number one question you need to ask yourself is the improving? And I would say yes he's opened up his eyes to a more variety in his diet well improving his health looks and probably happiness. That's the key to life progress. If I was doing the same thing that I was preaching 10 years ago I'd be stagnant and way behind where I'm at right now in life and all facets for that matter. If you read this mark please keep it up and open mind is by far the best way to go through life
@drip369

If you never watched his brothers documentary then you don't understand why he started out as heavy as he was, and continued that way, but like the first person to respond to you was saying, it's called trial and error, seeing what works and what doesn't. He got into keto because of what it did for his dad, besides what it did for him and of course it wasn't sustainable so he moved on. Everybody goes through this. He was a professional and still is and he is worth listening to, even if it's just for taking notes and not anything dogmatic.
