You can do it in a bucket and dump it outside.

Don't fancy putting it in the dishwasher. It could have food residue that could contaminate it. Baking soda and hand washing seems fine

I'm a little confused about why we need to let it soak overnight or even 12 hours. after the water has gotten cool, it's also become stagnant and I don't understand why you would need a full 12 hours to draw out stuff from the pack? can't you achieve the same thing in like 6 hours? I mean how was the full 12 hours determined and how did you test it or did you test it? just wondering.

Hey there! There really is no best time of day/amount of time, but it is best to do it DAILY! Before bed or overnight is ideal because the castor oil pack relaxes your body and promotes an amazing sleep. This can be done during the day for less time, your practice is totally up to you and what feels best!

Hey there! Washing before first use is a soft suggestion, kind of like washing a new pair of socks or underwear before first use! Yes this can be done with Castile soap, by hand and air dried!

Information from other users recommends putting it in a glass or stainless container in the refrigerator if not used daily. If used daily you can lane it in the container at room temp. It can dachshund be used up to 60 days before washing or replacing.

Great question! You should not be washing your pack in the washing machine and the reason for this is because castor oil is a very sticky and messy oil, we don't want residue leftover and getting on any other clothes when washing! PLUS our packs are made with organic materials and this may damage its natural lifecycle! I personally wash my pack by hand and find this to work for me best!

Method or a Norwex dishwasher. Baking soda is also fine in a dishwasher.

Great questions Claudia - You will be using an ALL NATURAL dish soap/detergent (Local health food store) - You will be washing it on a normal /gentle cycle - it's okay if the water is hot but we want to try to wash the pack as little as possible so were not decreasing the natural lifecycle of your pack - I hope this helps!

Please be careful about using regular dish soap for hand washing dishes. It can create a Lot of bubbles in the dishwasher. A friend’s daughter ruined their dishwasher by filling the dispenser with it. There was bubbles pouring out of the vents.

I’ve tried both the dishwasher and washing by hand and neither works. The solid portion stays sticky from the oil. I am getting to the point that I have to wash it after only a few uses. And there’s no way it lasts even 30 days much less 2 months of daily use. Do you have another recommendation for cleaning it or using it? Should I stop using a tbsp with each use?

The castor oil pack supports the oil staying in place and going deep into the dermis so that it can go into the circulatory system and be carried into the body. ​​You know that amazing feeling you get when someone gives you a hug or you use a weighted blanket? That’s the body releasing your ‘feel-good hormones dopamine and oxytocin! This is the exact same feeling you get from the castor oil pack. Rubbing the oil onto the skin without wearing the pack will nourish the skin, but you're only getting half the benefits! Using the oil and pack together is what puts the body into a relaxed state so that you can heal, poop better, sleep better and stress less!

Great question! The reason we do not suggest washing in a washing machine is because there is a possibility it can leave residue in the tub which may get on clothes when you go to do another load of laundry which we do not want!

OR: is the castor oil pad presoaked in the baking soda water then placed in the dishwasher - normal cycle with NO soap/pod added, then squeezed out on dishtowel?
