I'm sure I wasn't the only one that gasped when you took the rotary cutter to your woven fabric - you are very brave! I can't wait to do that one day lol! I love the colors and your basket turned out great!

There were so many comments about cutting it. I have to cut it off I want to make more stuff with it, so I just did it until I was used to it 🤷🏼♀️. I'm so glad I did. It gave me so many options.

Just gorgeous 🥰 I see/hear lots of weavers won’t use handspun for the warp - they say it doesn’t stand up to the friction. Well done you for proving them wrong.

I know you don't have cats but for anyone else with kittys, full cat liter boxes make a great weight for the loom when you warp. 😃 Love the basket! I've been contemplating a basket or a grocery bag for when I don't take my husband shopping. (Insert overflowing cart with him in tow) 🛒🛒 Great project. Can't wait to see more! 👍👍

From beginning to end, this project was so fun! This is wonderful for handspun you want to weave with but don't want to wear. I'm starting to get overwhelmed with all the ideas I have for things I want to spin/weave/knit and then seeing everyone else doing amazing stuff too-- it's almost paralyzing to know what to start first...my idea? yours? hers? that one over there?... squirrel!! hahaha
@suebrady61792 жыл бұрын
Pretty baskets! You could embroider a separate motif and sew it on by hand. It wouldn't take long to whipstitch around the edge, and you could place it exactly where you want it.

As a quilter, I cannot tell you how many times I have assembled a top or project, only to frog out some seams and redo entire areas, in order to Fix a Section I misaligned or to Improve something which needed the improvements. It wouldn’t take much time for you to frog (rip it, rip it) that basket, embroider whatever you are thinking about and restitch the final, New and Improved!, basket to be what you envisaged in the first place.

Making sure that your loom doesn’t move while warping is really important! After forgetting the first three times, I finally remembered. Fourth time was the charm - slow learner? Becoming feeble minded? Sorta in my defense, it was long periods of time between weaving adventures. Actually, I did remember about a quarter of the way in on fourth time.

Thank you for always having such informative videos! Even if it's small pieces of advise, it adds up! I think a lot of creatives who make money off of their work tend to hold their cards so close to their chest regarding process and tips. It's really humbling to see the amount of work and process that goes into everything you craft from raw fiber to bag. The finished product is so beautiful. Also low-key really sweet to see a little moment of John touching your weaving and chatting with you! :) You may have answered this question in a separate video, but can I ask what you do with the unwoven yarn that you cut? Does it go into other projects?

What a beautiful basket! I think it's better without the embroidery because it lets the weaving be the main focus. I've never cut my weaving yet other than to cut it off my loom. I guess it might feel a lot like steeking. Great job!

I think the problem is that opening the shed gets too difficult when the end get shorter, so it might help a little bit you would not gain much.

I find it so hard to cut my handspun when using it. Am I the only one with this problem? I've made some knitted and crocheted things out of handspun but the amount of cutting in weaving and my newness with it make it so intimidating. I have some special handspun set aside for it, hopefully I get the courage to weave it soon!
