Great content! I have the 1150PNG (ultrashort/420) - light wind weapon! with my 6,5Unit (85kg), I am the always the first and last one flying. I have the 980HPS (one below the 1050 as it would be too big for me), which is my 80% of time goto foil (so much ease/fun - my trainingwheel for learning new maneuvres) paired with 380 (fast) or 375 (carvy). For high winds I have the 830HPS (the easiest of my small foils, same caracteristics as 980!)). 799ART brings most fun in strong wind conditions, but needs good technique (w 375)! Now I ordered ART1099 (which might succeed my beloved 1150 - lets see). In general Axis - great gear to play with (I have 4 BCS: biggest for dock-start, rest for choppy short waves - slower, but turn on a dime). BR Dieter

Hi Dieter, you’re set up really good! Sound great. I’m trying out different stabs and as many have written the 375 seems popular. I tried the 999 a few times and it’s great when you get used to how to get it going. Next up for me as well, 1099. Let me know how your experience it! Stay safe!

Good one Fredric! This Axis range of gear is a bit of a head spinner and some guiding is appreciated when selecting fuselage, foil and stabs, so thank you for shining some light on it. The 1050 HPS seems to have won you over and it appears to be the one foil that does it all from 13 kts and if confirmed with the various stabs, that would be awesome. 🌟

Hi Frederic, yes, it is a great foil. Currently, with the 390, it's great. With one of the other rear wings 420 0r 460, it will be faster but more unstable, I presume. I will get back after some more testing! Thanks for watching!

I’m sort of Intermediate or really close to that. Is the 1050 pretty challenging vs a BSC wing? I just can’t decide. I’ve been thinking of getting an axis BSC 970 but i don’t want to be too conservative. I’m currently on a low aspect ratio fanatic aero carve wing that I’ve hit the limits on enough to know what it can and can’t do.

Hey Ben, two front wings at about 1500cm2. I’d say the BSC would be the easier of them two to ride. The 1050 would be faster and need a little bit more speed for takeoff. On the other hand the 1050 would be a little more advanced and this will give you more fun and challenging rides. The 1050 is the better choice as I see it. A good step up….then the next step up is something like the ART 999/1099. You have great days ahead!!! 🥳🥳

Hi Frederic, I started with the BSC 1060 as my light wind foil and the ART 999 for the windier days....how do you feel the HPS1050 compares with the ART 999? I've only used my 999 3 times as I struggled to get the lifting angle right and kept stalling... now sure how the 1050 compares with the 999 on the stall speed and angle of attack to climb off the water...

Hi Robert, thnaks for watching. The 1050 and the 999 are very different. The 1050 is A LOT easier to get up on foil. Like all AXIS HA foils you need to give them some speed before you pitch them up. The 999 is very sensitive about the pitch angle. You need to give it even more speed before you slightly pitch it upwards and then only a little bit. Think of the ART series like getting a 747 off ground. It similar way to get up slow and steady. Try that and with patience you will get up with the 999 and damn, that foil, once up is amazing. Quite reactive in comparison but have a great glide and gives you plenty of time doing jibes and such. Gieve it go with this in mind and let me know how it went! By the way, where do you ride?

@@wingfoil_mallorca Hi Fred, we got wind year round with consistent summer sea breezes. I struggled with the 1050 and the 400 rear… very twitchy… places mast in middle… did not feel enough front foot pressure. Where do you place the mast on the board?

A pity you don't get strong wind there. Had my first proper go on my 765 axis black fuse compatible design today. Blowing around 20-30 knots, ppc2.8 wind wing and that was maxed out a lot. So stoked I get the lift to fly on only 765sqcm foil! Really makes a difference on the waves but I did feel like I need to make a smaller stabiliser for it, the pitching moment was very locked in from foiling speed and up. I have to try it on some slower waves, it really had no interest in stalling. It makes me wonder how small lighter people, down to 70, 50kg can go on area for front wings. I'm 114kg. So for a 57kg person on a lighter board, that's around 400 sq cm. The stabiliser would be tiny! Here in Porirua NZ, my wing I flew today would be your size for average winds. We don't go without white caps.

Hi Graham, so stoked to hear that. What a great ride. It’s your own design that works so great! That is awesome, really! Yeah, Diane is 45 kg and she’s never been on less than a 1500cm2 foil. I have a 1300 cm2 that is my smallest. But lately I’ve been trying out the ART 999 which is 1010cm2 and that one is great from 15-16 knots. A friend of mine said you have one of the windiest places of them all in the channel. Could that be so?

@@wingfoil_mallorca Yes, Our Lyall Bay which faces onto the cook Strait can be a huge dangerous washing machine. Some of my wingsurfing buddies are on ART 799,999 and 1099 but personally I don't like them as I have much higher stall angle on my new designs this year, big breach resilience and the lift efficiency at lower speeds is insane. While the glide of my current series is not as good as for the ART, mine are really hard to stall. I've been surprised to be able to get on foil with this smaller wing in a bit lighter winds with my 6m ensis too, I's really nice being able to mix and match between wings and foils.

@@wingfoil_mallorca I have a 1300mm x 1200sqcm wing model assembling in three pieces on my 3D printer at the moment. It won't turn fast but I designed it for endurance pumping at a lower cadence. Maybe 2 to 3 weeks before I have it moulded and then in full carbon to try.

I started jibing on some small ocean wave (30-60%) success rate and riding with goofy stand. But, I think I still really have to work on my pumping technique. 😩 Am I a beginner or an intermediate in your opinion?

Hey SmoothRider, that is a progression from the basic learning as I see it. Meaning you would be an intermediate rider! 💥 To stay in the wave is not only depending on the pumping but it helps. You also need the right type of wave and ride the wave the best way. Sideways, not straight down. Keep at it!
