Hey Guys!
Today I am showing you how I like to wire up aftermarket stress to factory Audi amplifiers.
They can come in 4 different configurations; 2ch, 4ch, 2ch + sub & 4ch + sub.
This method works for all of them but makes the most difference with the 2ch versions of the amplifier as this wiring method results in a very low difference in volume between the front and rear speakers when the fader is set to 0.
this is ideal because it means not much tuning is needed to get a nice balanced sound throughout the vehicle.
With this wiring method the factory subwoofer WILL still work.
This Audi is also set to get a Rockford Fosgate P300-12 active 12" subwoofer, and two sets of Rockford Fosgate P16-s 6" component speakers.
Check out that work here: • Its an Audi, I NEED MO...
Choose to be Happy & I will see you tomorrow.

GREAT VIDEO! Some of the old common ground systems I have been able to get away with connecting the after market stereo to just one speaker ground output and the speaker positive outputs to avoid rewiring the vehicles speakers or damaging the new radio

Cheers, was intalling a new Head Unit undoing the previous owners job, ran normal RCA preouts to my Bose harness (All of my car was amped) and fixed all the audio issues I was having. Would get loud static at high volumes out of my front tweeters. This video helped me confirm my thoughts and I wired up the new one first try sounding better than I thought they could.

THANK YOU I HAVE THE 2005 AUDI A4 3.0 THIS HELPED A LOT. ESPECIALLY WITH THE ANTENNAE WIRE. YOU NEED THE PINTAIL BLUE ANTENNAE SETUP. THAT BLUE WIRE GOES TO THICK WHITE (+) FROM THE STOCK WIRE HARNESS. ALSO THANKS FOR TELLING ME TO GROUND BOTH SMALL BROWN WIRES,ONE IS ALARM GROUND, THE OTHER IS CALLED "BOSE". DONT HAVE THE LEFT/RIGHT CHANNEL SETUP BUT BOTH NEEDED TO BE GROUNDED. ALSO, NONE OF MY SPEAKER WIRES NEED TO BE GROUNDED EITHER DUE TO THE STOCK AMP ALREADY GROUNDING THEM. FOR SOME REASON I DID EVERYTHING YOU DID BESIDES THE CHANNELS AND NOW EVERYTHING WORKS. THANKS BUD

Hi, just finished to wire after this tutorial. This was the most informative which I managed to find. My case was Pioneer stereo, and Audi a4 b6 2004 TDI 96kW with half (rear and sub) amplified speakers. Everything works perfect. Thank you for this valuable information.

I have an Audi A4 2007 with amplified rear speakers and subwoofer. I was connecting an aftermarket android head unit. Thanks to your video I figured out how to make these connections with a quadlock harness. The only difference was that connecting negatives to the main ground caused a lot of noise at the back when the speedometer backlight was turned on. I reconnected these negatives to its previous position and everything works fine:). Thanks for this tutorial:).

I know this video is a few years old. I purchased an A4 B6 and have upgraded the headunit to a single din JVC-X270BT and was able to wire it up using the RCA jacks and cables supplied with the adaptor harness. At first the rear speakers and sub wouldn't work but as I fumbled through the endless settings on the radio I came to the preout settings. Went through them and then adjusted the gain now it works. If I were not able to get it going my next step was to do as done in this video.

After so many years your video still managed to give me some useful informations. Recently aquired an Aycetry/Wondefoo HU PX6 model that is missing an AMP CON wire that so many other HU's have. Regarding that, have a question for you if I may. Am I correct that you connected the rear amp/white wire to the 12V blue wire of the radio antena to power it? Images are not clear in that part of the video. Thanks in advance.

Worked a treat, sounds lovely. I also bought the aerial adapter thats in your video and connected it up the same but the reception is really poor, Im guessing you didnt attach the original coax aerial connector to anything? you just fitted the original audi fakra connector to the cable in your video? Wouldnt there be a wire on one of the original ISO plugs to power the built in aerial amp or is the blue one on the aerial adapter cable thats in your video enough? Cheers

I used to have this same car and what I did was unplug the rear amp and just use a couple short runs of wire to connect the rear speaker amp input wires to the rear speaker output wires essentially using the stock harnesses to have everything minus the sub to the aftermarket deck like a normal set up. Then i just used an aftermarket amp and sub ran off my rca outs. I wish i coulda tried this trick out though to see if it gave you more overall power to still use the factory amp to cover the rears. But I no longer have the car.

Ah I see. I had exactly that problem. Installed a Sony radio using a an adaptor harness for front speakers etc and rca outputs to the rear. So as you said front powered by radio, back speakers and sub powered by audi amp. I found the rear very low and basically because the sub was not balanced, the overall sound was thin and lacked balls.

@@faffbmx I've found another and better solution. It's a low line converter. Type on AliExpress "Low line converter" and it's the first result. Connect the rear amped output of the HU to the low line converter and then to the speakers (rear amp). Then you can adjust the two little knobs on the converter and make it a perfect 50/50 sound with top notch quality and 0 distortion.

thats on a Q7 though, on the A6 it wouldn't work, you simply don't have the space to install even a single din aftermarket radio anywhere in the cabin without either getting rid of your AC controls or getting rid of your addons control panel. the only way would maybe be completely overhauling the entire car's audio system and installing an android unit with a canbus adapter and video out to the original MMI monitor to enable the use of the original MMI controls on the original stereo screen. from what i'm aware of, there is actually a place that does this sort of conversion but the price makes the entire deal not worth it (its over approx. 5,000$US)

So basically you need an audio ground for the factory amp? Doing something real similar to my Highlander with a factory JBL amp. Was going to bypass it originally but they said the factory speakers are balanced with the factory amplifier so go with a loc between the new head unit and the factory amp. Don't know if he was bsing because that's the easiest way to add an aftermarket head unit (without bypassing the amp entirely) and they can sell me an loc. Apparently you did it without an loc and used an audio ground. A lot of people using the two harnesses I bought were complaining about the amp not outputting audio going directly from the speaker level output from the aftermarket head unit to the factory amp. If it needs an audio ground that might explain why. On the loc I bought it said for going from a new radio to a factory amp you were basically going from a audio level in to audio level out which made no sense to me because then going the head unit to the amp shouldn't have any issues. If it needs an audio ground that would explain it. So I'm assuming the factory amp wants a higher level input not rca. Do head unit rca's already have an audio ground? I guess I'll find out lol

Hey bro I've googled the shit out of this and found nothing, if you could point me the right way I'd be happy as. I just bought a used 2008 A4 S Line B7 Avant Wagon. I'm not sure if it came factory, but the head unit is an RNS-E MMI. 6 CD changer 10 speakers factory amp NO AUX NO BT NO IPOD The only working speakers are the front driver and passenger. The rear doors do nothing. And the rear speaker (6" sub?) located under the amp in the wagon, puts out a very distorted crunch on every bass kick. We're under lockdown so I can't take it to anyone to look at. Can you tell me where to start? Fuses, connections, loose wires etc. Any resources would be appreciated too. Also I don't have any head unit keys to pull the deck out safely and without damage so, until I get some I can't get behind the head unit. Cheers.

I think that's the way it's supposed to work while using an aftermarket HU.

You could have brought the harness instead of cutting the factory harness on the car

I've just done this today and i got that pop from the rears. I think it's coming from my bad ground on the rears ones. Mean giving them only positive. Tomorrow i will try to ground them. I will keep you updated or if you already find the solution please share.

I am getting the same pop when turn the car on/off and when I turn volume to zero or mute. I ordered a Hi-Lo Box and/or Ground loop isolator. I removed the stock Bose radio and replaced it with a Android touch screen and connected that to the Stock Amp. This radio came with a can bus wiring harness that may be wired similarly, but I don't think the center speaker on the dash is working. I have no idea how to connect the Hi-Lo or ground loop Isolator. I don't know if its a 2 Channel or 4 Channel Amp. I hope it works.
