Hey I tried to start woodworking and pyrography (wood burning) and started using rotary tools. I fell victim to one of the biggest mistakes you mentioned in a previous video, I lost confidence in myself and gave up. Luckily, after a day of watching your videos (a solid year later), and seeing what and how you do what you do, I'm happy and excited that I kept my old rotary tool. I need to grab a flex shaft apparently, but I'm definitely getting back into wood carving with a power tool, and you're definitely to thank! I'll almost definitely look into getting a new rotary tool maybe a Stylo too, and a wire tip wood burner. Awesome videos!

I've been watching other carving videos on KZbin. Can I just say that your a much better teacher & Carver. Seriously you bring a real professionalism & joy to this. I just keep ending up coming back to your videos. Also my grandmother was a professional artist & even she couldn't draw a perfect circle. A circle is the hardest thing you can draw. So thanks for showing this because I suck at drawing. Definitely plan to use the carbon paper trick. I've also been tracing my wood pieces onto scrap paper just so I can practice doing a drawing/design on it without having to worry about messing it up. Or wanting to figure out the drawing pattern before putting it to wood. Definitely need the circle thing. Yet another item to get for my wood working bin. Oh well I'll get them little by little & they're pretty cheap.

Not sure how many times I've re-watched these videos but you are a great teacher to this old guy! Ha ha ha. As a "classically trained" cartographer, maybe try using a French Curve instead of free handing. Can make drawing a whole lot easier. Also, can you use the quick change chuck on the classic Dremel & it's extension wand (can't remember what it's called)? Thanks!

I've been homebound before we were forced to and found a new favorite hobby engraving. You really keep things simple and explain everything in detail. It is much appreciated by my novice brain. A few options I opted for a cheaper version(not cheap, survive on VA disability) but they are working so far! My Dremel flex shaft works well as I have been through two Stylo's in the past 9 months. I was wondering what the next step up in power has the approximate dimensions and portability of the Stylo would be that isn't that expensive? Thanks!

I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. kzbin.infoUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.

New subscriber here. thanks for the awesome content. I got some questions tho. How long would you say your burs last and when would you know it's run it's course. Do you ever use the dremel to sand with or do you do most of it manually? Is there an upside to both ways? I bought the Dremel 3k, your opinion...would it be ok to carve with as i know it's a bit thicker.

For the outer design, you could measure exact lengths and put dots on several points. Then you could free hand from point to point as opposed to the whole thing. Should turn out cleaner and require less revision.

quick question what are the best way to clean all rotary burrs can we simply just wipe them down with a clean cloth? and for diamond burrs is it better to water when carving stone or marble? i read that you should always add water but in some youtube videos that i'v watched didn't do that so is preference to add water when using diamond burrs? :)

Owing to lockdown i finally got time to pursue my long cherished wish to try wood carving...and this channel is the best thing that has come my way...thank you for your wonderful videos...beginner as I am to this craft i am seeking your advice Sir... Dremel as i understand is a name of a brand of rotary, so is there any other rotary that u can suggest instead of dremel not that I have any problem with particular brand but i am from India and there aint much option..or if u can suggest which is better brand(available in Indian market) that i can go for as i am planning to purchase my median rotary. Anticipating ur responses. Edit: I have two options available on Amazon: 1. Dremel 3000 (3000-1/25 EZ) 2. Homdum Multifunctional Mini Rotary Die Grinder Kit with Flexible Shaft and 350 Pieces of Accessories ...which one do you suggest for beginner?

Hey there! Glad to have you aboard bro! I always love hearing from people from different countries. I would suggest the Dremel since they are a bigger brand. You could easily get replacements. But if that is a little expensive go for the one you mentioned. Both of them will essentially do the same thing. Good luck with your new hobby! I look forward to seeing you around my friend!
