As a bookkeeper, I always enjoy your videos, so thank you! You actually were one of my inspirations to start my own company :) I agree that there is a need, and many small businesses get overlooked because some bookkeepers won't charge less than maybe $300 per month. I got into this to HELP small businesses, so I never turn someone down. I do not charge full rates for any business making less than $50k a year. My smallest business I only charge $50/mo, I've taught them how to properly categorize and I just go in, review and correct what I need, reconcile their one bank account and produce reports. I usually meet for 30 minutes with him every quarter. I do the same with my other small clients that charge less than $100 a month.

Exactly what I need as a business owner! I love all of these ideas in what I could ask a bookkeeper for. I am currently doing my own books but need professional help every quarter or so and a phone call here and there. Now to find someone.

Great tips and I agree with all of it. Over the last 4 years of having a bookkeeping business, I love to mix and have a few large clients, big portion of medium clients and some annual small clients (small ones I treat almost like a bonus income at the end of the year and not fully relying on them only).

I am actually the exact same way. I have always had a mix. In the end, having a pleasant, easy-to-work-with client is what I prioritize and who I will keep around.

Yes! You were literally the inspiration for this video :) This week's video is also from your email... about the bookkeeper workflow and the steps I sent you.

You mentioned a spreadsheet as an alternative to software. Generally speaking, how important are Excel skills in the field of bookkeeping?
@FinePointsBookkeeping3 ай бұрын
Hmm, I would say 90% of bookkeepers are "Excel people" (as in, they are the type of people who enjoy Excel). That's an unscientific percentage. :) But, I think you could technically be a bookkeeper with QuickBooks Online never using Excel. But, the two (Excel/bookkeeping) do seem to have a link.
