@kobarsos822 жыл бұрын
You actually ascended to 20 too fast, nice. I am on 250 hours on the steam account and I'm still on ~A14 even though I rarely lose runs. But I raise all characters with rotation. I just play too slowly and carefully to avoid mistakes. But it does take a lot of time this way so maybe not the most optimal thing to do or recommend.
@jameswood72072 жыл бұрын
Same here man! I feel proud for just reaching a20 at similar hours (~250 or so) 😂. I attribute much of that to watching a lot of Jorbs content to learning how to pilot the characters in a more dynamic way, rather than following deck archetypes. That said, I do feel this weird guilt that I haven’t really explored these strategies myself and have just copy pasted the tried and tested strategies of a highly experienced player with thousands of hours. Above all, I love the spires ability to reward your creativity when it comes to your deckbuilding - no two runs ever feel the same. I want to play a bit more creatively, even if my WR will most likely drop. I’ve often wondered what it would be like to play a game like this professionally- I don’t think I could play StS full time-I would need to test more than just my analytical part of my brain or I would get bored.

Amazing watch. Kinda sad Jorbs doesn't mention his lengthy discussion with that other StS player (sorry can't remember the name) about Watcher. Jorbs argued very much against forcing Watcher infinites, then slowly turned to forcing infinites after that, after trying it. Before that, Flurry was probably his most important common, I feel like. I very much appreciate the ability to change the style based on evidence though.

This was a great video idea, I'd love to see more like it (also been enjoying the "brand new account videos")! As a pretty new player who just hit A3, it's not only super informative, but it was also reassuring to hear that you each have different strategies and playstyles that can get winstreaks on A20. I've been struggling with that, "Should I play to my strengths and experiment, or just try to learn what's optimal?" This video helped me realize that it's going to be way more fun and rewarding to try to figure some things out for myself, nobody knows exactly what's optimal in every situation anyway, and I can still save time by learning from streamers. For instance, taking Snecko Eye when I already have Runic Pyramid... I can skip that experiment. Also it was interesting to hear that you switched from dying at Heart to dying at earlier acts, because that was my experience too, even on lower ascension. Once I switched my playstyle on Watcher, I wasn't getting to Heart anymore, but when I finally did, I beat it easily. And since then I've started to see why people say Watcher is super strong. Thanks for everything Jorbs, I can see myself playing a lot of this game, and I'm sure I'll be watching a lot of your videos in the meantime!

The discussion about playing with the end game in mind more than the early game is interesting. I've played a handful of Poker Quest (I think jorbs has also played some) and some advice that I felt was "common knowledge" on their discord server when asking how to get better was "take worthwhile risks early for good payoff, because if they don't work out, starting over is quicker & less of a walk back than from the later stages of the game." I don't think the exact same sentiment is being portrayed here, but I think there's some connection // similarity in idea?
@Jorbs2 жыл бұрын
I'd say that's a bit different, because it's from the angle of saving time. I'm saying that I currently feel like it's better to take risks early from the angle of having a higher chance to win overall if you do so. But it's definitely a similar kind of idea.
