I never really cared about Superion or really any of the Autobot combiners, but if Silverbolt does turn out to be a commander class, and does have a really good Concorde (or non-licensed Concorde-esque) alt-mode, I would absolute get him. I just absolutely love and adore the Concorde!

My greatest hope for this is that all the Aerialbots retain their individual Jet modes, so that we don’t get a repeat of the Wildrider and Breakdown mistake where they share the same mold but only slightly modified to look different.

Strongly agree with you. They better not do any duplicate molds for any of the jets. That would be incredibly lame.

I wouldn't be surprised at this point. I would get a G2 set if they were all different molds but if they cheap out on this, I will stick with what is already out. Hell, even a Jujiang Superion will still be better than what comes out from Hasbro now. It's already bigger than what they will end up releasing for the same price too when they were more available.

Since planes are an awkward shape for hiding combiner components inside, my guess is that Silverbolt will be a Commander class set, consisting of a Voyager-scale Silverbolt and a (undersized) aircraft carrier/landing strip that forms the frame of the combined mode, similar to Legacy Motormaster. With SS86 Devastator currently consisting of two Voyager limbs and two Deluxe limbs, it sounds like he'll be a more traditional combiner. His chest could be two Voyagers, two Leaders or one of each. I'm just hoping there's as little partsforming as possible. Menasor's is a bit much but at least he's a collection of large chunks rather than many tiny ones.

Combiner Wars was awesone. We need that style of combining MIXED with Legacy style Combining.

Yup, despite their flaws, the Scramble City aspect of CW was cool in making different Combiners with all the different figures and sets they released, especially when you take into account the Unite Warriors sets too. We even got more figures in the Power of the Primes line and Generations Selects that were all compatible.

Pretty much agreed with your assessment Proto. I could even see some of the combiner kibble being used for a control tower to go with a ramp for Silverbolt's base mode.

I prefer limbs to be fully separate from the body when forming to Superion. I don't want a full bot assistance like Menasor.

Interesting. I've always felt that Air Raid was based on the earlier McDonnell Douglas F-15C, not the later Mitsubishi variant. Granted, there's not that much of a difference between the two. 👍

@@Trebleshot Not 100% sure about some of the variants, I just thought since they were originally Japanese toys they would have been inspired by the aircraft used by the JASDF. I just could not sit idly by while Protoman called them F-22s.

This is a decent possibility. Something I would suspect is that the also leaked Swindle is indeed part of set of combaticons, and that whatever they do, the combination gimmick will be designed to allow for interchangability between the combiners. My logic there is that obviously the big thing for the 2025 line (and presumably 2026 and 2027) is the 13 Primes, and one of the bigger omissions in the leaks is Nexus Prime, whose previous figure was made from a mix of Superion Maximus and Bruticus Maximus, although if that is the case, it may be that they come up with a system that allows for a more scramble city format, since Topspin (who would be made from Vortex) is a leg and Landquake (who would be Brawl) became the arm (If the combaticons at least do this, then it would allow a potential Ruination repaint to better reflect the fact that Ruination actually did shift up his limb format, although givien that RID is the only time the character models were anywhere near the toys, actual design, if Bruticus is cartoon acurate, Ruination won't be)

I hope Swindle is a G1 Combaticon but there are at least a couple of versions of him that aren't Bruticus components. Cybertron Swindle could easily be a Beachcomber retool and Animated is currently lacking villains.

Yeah, my guess will be the same; that they are going to make Silverbolt a Commander class figure with the size and framing that resembles that of Motor Master / Menasor. But as far as re-tooling that mold, I don't think that'll do that for a Commander class; I mean, when was the last time they re-tooled😊 a Commander class mold? It just doesn't seem likely that they'll re-tool commander classes, unless you meant just repaints or re-deco's with new heads, especially since they only do 1 per year.

I believe he’ll be a Commander, but he won’t have a frame. It’ll probably be like some 3rd Party combiners where hands, feet, and filler parts become weapons and/or shields.

Combiner wars was a wonky line with its combiners but the superion was probably the best mold wise the silverbolt torso transformation is solid unlike onslaught or motormaster. We probably will a commander class like motormaster with an airport or air base add on that would also be the combiner skeleton, I’m curious on the legs due to the robot torso being seen on the front and jet on the back so would there be a fake front part and a jet hanging off the back or would the robot mode turn into a box that will slot into the leg cavity with no fake front part it’s the actual robot details.

Size wise this makes sense however most retail stores don't carry commander class, so most of the average shopper will never be able to complete it

I didn't like the combiner wars menasaur but really liked the superion and bruiticus. I liked the idea of the pieces changing into the legs and arms not just clicking on. I will wait and see what one I prefer when they release it.

I think it would be cool if we get really great representations of all the individual team members and they do something similar to Menasor but rather than a trailer the combined mode body should turn in to a flight stand that can hold all 5 jets and also transform into a base to be used for the robot modes.

Making the limb bots deluxes is a bad idea. I swear Hasbro just keeps making the Combiners about 12 to 14 inches. Why did they bother with making CW Devastator 18 inches?!

I was today years old (45) that I found out that he had a "Base" mode haha. I always thought that silverbolt was one weird looking figure when I was a kid. I had the original g1s and they were so small and tiny. As far as Superion and Menasor being rivals they both were given life by Vector Sigma in the 2 part episode the key to Vector Sigma so I think that was the whole idea. While Devastor and Omega were rivals these guys were Definitely rivals. I can't wait to see how they do all 5 of them. I think it will Def be a awesome combiner and look good next to Menasor on my shelf!

Excited for the Aerialbots. But i didn't think that Hasbro would go the same route as the Stunticons. But still too early to tell what will happen. But Hasbro did well with the Stunticons, so it could work with the Aerialbots.

Do you think Silverbolt's alt mode would require partsforming to transform into the Concorde? It is a massive plane. Like with Motormaster, his trailer was part of his alt mode. Or maybe Silverbolt can transform without, and the "ramp" is just there to transform into Superion?

The only thing I think different is silverbolt as a single bot /plane will be like motormaster and rodimus, a voyager size wuth increased engineering and it will have a separate base structure that will make the main body of superion just like MMs trailer.

I am almost sure that Silverbolt will transform into the jet and will also transform into part of the torso like Motormaster. The base will be the rest of the torso and the limbs were the other deluxes will attach. Same with Bruticus, Onslaught will transform into the truck and the base will be the rest of the torso and the limbs were the other ones will attach. Rinse and repeat to save $$$.

Since this is still at least a year in the offing. I'd like to toss this idea into the hopper. How about we nix the Concorde? Much like the numerous Space Shuttle molds for everything from Astrotrain to Sky Lynx, they are a relic of a bygone age. How about a military cargo hauler like C-Galaxy? Or a bomber like Stratofortress. Or even borrow a design from GI Joe and use the Nightraven. An update to the design that makes sense for Silverbolt.

Rockwell B-1 Lancer. It's a supersonic bomber with a profile similar to a Concorde. And it fits into a military theme. I always wondered why Silverbolt was a civilian jet.

While I am all for new versions of the combiner characters, I just don't like the idea of "screen accurate" combined modes. The animation designs, generally, are greatly simplified because the animators have to draw them over and over again and don't have a lot of time to do it (unlike a movie where there is opportunity to put in more detail). That said, I will be buying the new aerialbots. I have high hopes for their design, but, just like with the Stunticons, I don't expect much from Superion. As a comparison, in the animation design for Menasor he's a giant robot with cars attached (in most sequences it's literally Motormaster transforming into Menasor and then having four cars attach to him. Not much of a "combiner"). In the animation design for Superion, his arms and legs actually are the robots that make them up in a style like the Combiner Wars versions. Sorry for the rant. I just don't understand the clamoring for animation accurate sculpts and colors. They don't have near as much detail or depth to them as toy accurate versions (Props to most of the Studio 86 line for the detailing). That's why I stopped getting masterpiece figures. Vehicles look great, engineering is amazing, but the robot modes just look flat and boring. Thanks for putting up with me that long.

Given the context of the 13 Primes being present, I'm not really too sure that they would give Superion the commander class slot. With Swindle being in the listings too, I'm more inclined to believe that they are going to engineer Bruticus to be compatible as well to bring us Nexus Prime. Wouldn't it be a crazy shock if it turned out that these weren't avtually the G1 teams, but their Energon counterparts using the G1 names for trademark purposes?

Look for the wings ! Superion has none of Sikverbolt wings, so the clip on structure should be on thicker wings that pin on smaller one for his robot mode to plane mode and form a runways while he his on robot mode.

I hope its better than Menasor. It was cool, but not close enough to the animation model for me, especially the head. I bought him, but still bought an MP version to satisfy the itch of looking near perfect.

Most iterations of Superion have very spindly legs, fix that and you could have an outstanding combiner. Secondly, Computron needs to be redone and using the same mold as Silverbolt for Scattershot cannot be an option.

No mention of how big this would make Silverbolt's robot mode?? Motormaster worked because he was formed just from the cab of the truck. You'd better hope you don't display them in individual robot modes, or Silverbolt will look ridiculous. I guess they COULD. I know scale is a meme when it comes to the G1 Sunbow cartoon, but if Silverbolt is twice as tall as Motormaster and all the other Aerialbots, that might be a bit disappointing. If his robot mode were insanely compact, how would that translate to combined mode? Would they do some insane Sunbow Masterpiece engineering to RECREATE the entire robot mode in a different scale??? Somehow I doubt a main-line release has the budget for that. At least Motormaster had that all in a separate trailer. Good luck turning inside-out three times because nothing turns into anything else.

This is exciting as Hasbro has done some great plane designs since Titans Return. Concorde is a fairly small airliner (Paris air museum has one you can enter) and is not massive compared to Aerialbot F-15, F-16, F-4 and Harrier. Would be cool if the combiner parts in jet mode made up an airline gate with tiny luggage :)

I really hope he isn't Commander Class. If Commander Class is going to stay in the range of $90-$100 then I just don't want it. Sure, the limb bots will be affordable but then making the big, final component way more expensive would just be stupid. This is why I am getting tired of Commander Class personally. Jetfire/Skyfire was $70 and was totally worth it. I got Motormaster and he was $90 and just doesn't feel worth it to me.

How so? Do you even have it? Or are you just one of those guys who do not like the perception of combiners stripped down to just glorified super mode TF figures? Although I don't like that idea myself, I don't mind if the combined figure looks accurate to its source AND that the combined figure is highly "stable" and highly "articulate", which Legacy Menasor is, fortunately. That is a good trade off. And having it in person is even better 😊
