Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on Modern Warfare continues with the aftermath of the first phase of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine in 2022 ( • How Ukraine Won the Fi... ). Previously we talked about the build-up to the new stage of the Russo-Ukrainian War, how Putin's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine continued, and covered events between February 24th and April 7th, as we saw how Ukraine managed to win the first phase of the war. This set up the second phase of the war - battle of Donbas. In the previous video we covered the events of April of 2022 ( • Battle of Donbas Begin... ) including the sinking of the rocket cruiser Moskva - • How did the Sinking of... , and how the conflict turned into the war of attrition in May ( • War of Attrition - Rus... ) and continued with Russia's best month in June ( • Russia's Best Month - ... ). In the video dedicated to July - the 5th month of the war, we talked about the arrival of the HIMARS systems which strengthened Ukrainian positions and changed the war ( • How HIMARS Changed the... ), while this video will focus on the events of August, as we will see how Russian logistics and manpower problems were worsened by the HIMARS strikes, the risk and intrigue around the Zaporizhia (Enerhodar) Nuclear Powerplant and the long expected beginning of the Ukrainian counter-offensive in Kherson ( • Kherson Counter-Offens... ). Previously we discussed the Kherson counteroffensive in the first 2 weeks of September and showed how the Ukrainian counteroffensive in Kharkiv Oblast - Balakliya-Izium counter-offensive succeeded, pushing the Russians across Oskil and Lyman ( • Ukrainian Kharkiv Coun... ) In the second half of September, Ukraine liberated even more territory in Kherson ( • Ukraine Continues Atta... ), while this video will talk about the events of the beginning of October, including the attack on the Crimean - Kerch bridge ( • Attack on the Crimean ... ). In the second half of October, positional and attritional warfare continued to dominate, still Ukraine managed to attack the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol and the Grain Deal was almost cancelled ( • Ukrainian Attack on Cr... ), while in the beginning of November, Ukraine finally liberated Kherson.

Kherson operation was the very successful example of attrition warfare. If Ukraine can advance south in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and get the land route to Crimea under artillery fire, same thing may be yet repeated in the case of Crimea itself, and the rest of Kherson Oblast.

Ukrainian infantry have been training in the UK ever since their training facilities in Lviv Oblast came under fire at the beginning of the war. Now the war is now entering winter months, training Ukrainian infantry in Norway, Sweden and Finland would be incredibly beneficial to prepare them for the rigors of a winter war.

Ukrainian infantry has been almost permanently engaged in combat during 7 years since 2014... And during winters as well, yes 😉 So that's unlikely someone can teach Ukrainian infantry something in this regard. The only training Ukrainian troops need are just some couching at using high-tech MLRS, artillery systems, etc., provided by Western allies... Of course, pilots would need to spend some time to learn flying F-15 and/or F-16, if US or Canada would agree to provide us those.

15:15 the whole point of the Vuhledar offensive was following. Ukrainian artillery near Vuhledar can strike railroad which goes from Donetsk to Mariupol past Volnovakha, and also, in Volnovakha, it separates and you can get to Crimea via that additional "branch". But Volnovakha is at Ukrainian gunpoint and that branch to Crimea can also be shelled. So if you manage to drive Ukrainian artillery out from Vuhledar and it's surroundings, you can secure the railroad which connects Crimea, Mariupol, Donetsk and goes all the way further to the territory of Russian Federation. But unfortunately for russians, Ukrainians are still there.

The most extraordinary thing about Kherson is that Ukraine had been broadcasting an offensive in that area for several months, basically calling their shot since last summer. And the Russians still couldn't stop it.

The Russians shifted resources from the east to bolster defenses in the south in response (which is why they lost so much in the Kharkiv area in Sept). It wasn't until late Oct that Russia started indicating that they would retreat from Kherson. So yeah, they did try to stop it until their position became too tenuous. They retreated when they realized their defense wouldn't hold and had no choice.

With the way the withdraw was conducted they still lost plenty of troops and equipment, which looks extremely bad considering it wasn't during a fight. I just talked with Scott Shafer, the youtuber whose video blew this scam wide open to millions, and he states that ET has dropped those that had previously sponsored them, as a result, K&G's actions may be directly from there, but still, they were getting messages, and such so a shared influence from being dropped, and the followers letting them know did cause a great impact.
