I'll be hanging out for the next few hours and answering comments (and tweets and instagram/facebook comments, and reddit comments if someone posts this). I'll try and answer as many questions as I can, so ask away! EDIT: The views count on this video isn't updating for some reason. There are already 45k views on this video, but it's currently showing 38 views for me. So yeah, it's wonky, but we probably don't need EVERYbody to comment on it;)

I have a samsung tab s3 9.7, it needs new glass digitiser as amoled panels fine but nobody in the UK can do it yet and a samsung panel is insanely expensive over here and I don't trust the 3rd party screens I can get. How would you go about finding a repair centre in china to send it off too (i'm in no rush for it back) to get a glass only repair? Thanks in advance Scotty!

All of these intricate, tiny parts are just mind blowing to me. It's crazy that a tiny sticker and a minuscule metal clip that could disappear into the fibers of a fleece sweatshirt can be responsible for the buttons having a proper response and thus transforming the end user experience of the entire device.

Hey, Scotty, you forgot to add that black screens have a tiny extra part that the white screens don't. A little filter that goes in front of the ambient light sensor to filter the light through the black glass. Without it the phone screen won't turn off when you put the screen up to your ear. It's a tiny, fiddly part, but it's pretty important. Great video, by the way.

Thanks, Scotty. I love your videos. I'm very jealous that you have access to the Shenzhen market. Being a 3rd party repairman, I'd love to have access to instant components. I have to wait at least 2 days to get the parts I need. I've spent thousands keeping a stock of spare parts just so I have a 1 day turn-around for my company. I'd love you to mod an iPad. If you have time?

Look up silicon travel mats for hair straighteners/curlers instead of cellphone repair mats and you will find them for $3 instead of $20+
@Spartacusse
@Spartacusse 5 жыл бұрын
But probably they won't be anti-static. Given the fact that silicon normally can withstand up to 300ºc that alone would be enough to lay down something hot, but not really the best thing for electronics.
@pr0xZen
@pr0xZen 5 жыл бұрын
@@Spartacusse Last time I checked, it wouldn't melt until 1414 degrees C / 2577.2 F. Being a semiconductor, I'm sure there is some way of making it suitably antistatic.
@Spartacusse
@Spartacusse 5 жыл бұрын
+pr0xZen Sure, I meant given the fact that silicone can (easily) withstand 300ºc, it's a good choice of material for a mat intended to put hot stuff over it. Of course there is ways of making it antistatic, that's my point exactly, the original comment said "travel mats" can be found for $3 while "cellphone repair mat" are around $20, I simply pointed out that, given the fact that "travel mat" does not need to be antistatic, it probably isn't, and that feature, may account for most, if not all of the price difference.

The cheap ones bubble up when you heat them up too. It probably won't melt but it'll push everything around and knock stuff over while you're trying to heat the board.

Akcent Goncesta buy an android and spend the same amount as you would if you bought an apple. You wont lag, thats the thing with android you arent forced to buy what the the maker is providing, there is many options and surely one that fits everybody. Not to mention how cheap the androids phones are.
