@danielkelley75482 жыл бұрын
@@christianlee9360 Okay, so the the first thing I discovered was that when you relax the physical body very deeply, it dramatically reduces many types of inflammation. You might think of deep relaxation as a basic prerequisite for the next step. The next step is that different emotions seem to target specific organs and bodily functions. For example, sadness/joy affects the lungs and sinuses. If you relax deeply, and then think of a joy-inducing memory or fantasy, your respiratory system will open up. Lust/Apathy directly affects the sexual organs. Anxiety/confidence affects the gut. And so on. Another, more direct way of "hacking" the autonomous nervous system is to directly interpret the negative symptoms as precursors to healing. The axiom "pain is weakness leaving the body" comes to mind. For instance, when I have trouble falling asleep because my mind is restless, I'll convince myself that the restlessness is due to my brain rinsing out the stress. This puts a positive spin on it and I'm asleep in no time. The keypoint seems to be a skill in bypassing the critical factor of the mind. Just like self-hypnosis or biofeedback training.
@christianlee93602 жыл бұрын
@@danielkelley7548 thanks for the explanation. Where can I learn more about this? What is it called? This is similar to German New Medicine where you don’t acknowledge the symptoms as being bad, you interpret the symptoms as the body going into healing

I kicked off visualising a perfect body about a year ago, and it gradually resulted in a real weight loss, increasing level of energy and healthier eating habits. I'd been looking for scientific evidence for what I called "mindpower" for quite a long time, and I was so excited to find out about the trials in this area. Thank you so much for sharing! Even though there are still blind spots in terms of specific knowledge, for me, the confirmation in the form of a beautiful and healthy body I have acquired is the best evidence that the theory works.

Gita says that once spiritual health is restored by wisdom (not just by blind worship) it reflects in positive mental and physical health, again if anything happens to physical health the correction must start from above to have a cure, healing us. I appreciate the science and research that is presented and will definitely check out Jo's book. I really appreciate her courage and commitment to greater understanding. The placebo effect is fascinating, especially how the body's response can be learned, trained or reframed. I have been a practicing Yogi for years and it is great to know more about the physical benefits to the work! One small peeve is that science has taken many spiritual practices and made it their own, with new and more marketable names. For example Meditation ( now mindfulness), compassion (compassion training) and love (human connection) have been around for quite some time now...like thousands of years:-) Maybe it's time to just do it!

Fascinating talk (which has inspired me to purchase the book). I am exploring all possible treatments for my tinnitus of 45+ years which has suddenly ramped up in loudness and the idea of mindfulness and CBT make an obvious practice to "try". However, when I try these processes my tinnitus gets worse due to the "quiet" nature of the procedures. So, the question is, am I getting the nocebo effect or, indirectly, aversion to these types of treatment?

I’ll answer the supplement and vitamin question. Many supplements are probably placebo because supplements are not regulated the manufactures are likely putting way too little of that supplement into the formula to have any physical effect but yet they can still claim that that what you are taking. Another big problem with some supplements is that your body cannot digest them and take them into the body orally so your aren’t getting any of that supplement and it’s all in your head. As for vitamins, excessive vitamins may be placebo-ish but a regular dose would probably not be placebo because you actually physically need those vitamins in your body. With other meds they are causing changes that you body can do on it own with the trigger of the med. therefore a placebo effect can happen with meds because your body triggers itself to do the action that the med was going to cause. With vitamins, they are physically needed for the bio-chemical reaction to occur. A med causes something to happen. A vitamin is used in the reaction and the body cannot synthesize the vitamin. Therefore the vitamin is needed. The only vitamin the body can make is Vitamin D is you are in the sun. All other vitamins must be taken in so you can’t fool the body into thinking it has the vitamin if the vitamin is not there. And again the important part is that the vitamin is part of the bio-chemical reaction and without vitamins you body has no way to substitute them so the body will suffer without the vitamins. With that said, there is a good chance that you get enough vitamins from your food and you don’t even need to take the vitamin. So if you feel better from unneeded vitamins its more just in your head the effects than an actual placebo effect because with a placebo effect chemically or physically the body has changed in one way or the other. As with extra vitamins, no bio-chemical or physical reactions have occured whatsoever so its just in you head and you tricking yourself. One last thing. I strongly recommend not taking a vitamin with minerals for the sake of your long term body health and especially for your brain health. If you want to know more about the minerals just ask.
@AG-nn8lp5 жыл бұрын
You actually do have chemical processes controlled by vitamins. Wtf are you even saying? Lol magnesium alone is in control of over 300 chemical processes in your body. And no....we don't get enough nutrients from food. Soil is depleted. Good theory though.

That unfortunately would be an incorrect title. The original title is correct and relevant to the content. This is mainstream science and is the subject of large body of studies. The mind has a real effect on the bodies physiology and vice versa. It is the reason why the number one cause of disease and illness is stress. Stress can turn on certain genetic markers that switch on auto-immune disorders. Therefore the reverse must also be true.

Except the point about studies being done with mindfulness medication and how when people who practice it fare better during the winter and after having been vaxed - these meditating people tend to catch fewer colds during the winter and are better able to handle vaccinations. Oh really? Is this why babies, who don't practice mindfulness meditation, catch more colds and don't do well with being vaccinated?
