HP Envy TouchSmart 15.6" m6 Laptop Review

*UPDATE JUNE 6, 2015:* So I finally sent this in to HP to repair. Some of the problems I was having were: -Something rattling in the fan when I take it with me, at one point causing me to not be able to use my laptop for the whole day -Trackpad still not working properly -AMD Driver crashing constantly when using movie maker -Shockwave player not responding When on Chrome or Firefox (happens occasionally) Now I'm not expecting HP to have all of these problems fixed but one thing that's certain is the first problem with the fan is likely a manufacture defect so it shouldn't be occurring with every M6-n010DX laptop. I'll have an update video coming in November

Hernan Gonzalez No, because you could get a good laptop at a lower price to do "casual" tasks as a student (Browsing the web, using Microsoft or other similar software, watching videos etc.). I'd recommend checking out LENOVO G50 - 80E30181US it's for $330 right now. If you want a laptop just like the one in the video, the check out the M6-N113DX.

Hi thanks for the feedback on the review! the track pad still doesn't work well but I have a mouse I use frequently so it's not a big deal. The overheating issue has also been happening but only at certain times now like when I try to export a movie through movie maker. The other time it crashes is when I was using Google Chrome and it's been crashing a lot while Chrome is running. the solution to this was uninstalling Chrome and using mobile Firefox, which is much more smooth. It doesn't really crash at any other moments for me. There aren't too many other issues other than that.

Underground Tech Hey Tech, Just got the computer today, so far it's been great. Had trouble with the trackpad, but re-installing the driver seems to have fixed it, hope so at least. Doesn't seem to crash on chrome. I can see the issue when you run multiple graphically intense applications because while I did not get the AMD display error, some programs just stopped working and looking at my taskbar the CPU was 100%. Overall it seems to be very good. Your review was very helpful. Thank you

Hi! I have a question. Are there laptops in the same price range that sport similar or the same specs as this one? When I looked at the specs for this one I was kind of happy and I wanted to buy it. But after looking through similar reviews like yours that show some very irritating flaws on this one, it feels like this isn't worth buying.

the best processor you can get at the price is an Intel core i5 and an AMD A8. Intel may not run games so smoothly as the AMD one. if you still want a fast processor such as the AMD 10, then I tend to find discounts on laptops with fast processors for under $600. I post this stuff on Google plus.

I think I've had a laptop like this one with the lower end AMD A6 and I guess the fan stopped working as it heated up after only some time.

Should have got the HP Envy m6-n012dx which has a 1080p display that is a touchscreen and Intel Core i5 4th gen. Although it still has some minor issues with the trackpad but with a few tweaked settings and it will work a heck of a lot better but at least Intel drivers don't randomly crash gotta love the Intel Superiority over AMD though this is just my opinions but the n012dx is a better buy.

i’ve had this laptop for 3 years and, plain and simple, if you want to use it for gaming, buy something else. Booting up alone takes around 3 minutes, restarting about 5x that long. My frames on even low end games are abysmal do not recommend.

Hey, actually I just bought this laptop yesterday and I am facing problem with the internet explorer and chrome. If I open a website on explorer it takes 5 minutes to open and if I open my chrome it always stops responding. I am using a high speed internet , so there is no problem in that. I was actually having a similar problem with using Chrome, it was crashing quite often and I've been using Chrome for as long as I could remember. The solution to it is to use Firefox, trust me it is really good now and I haven't had many crashes.

The i7 has a better overall performance than the AMD 10:www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2248&cmp[]=1920 But for gaming, the AMD 10 looks like it would run better.

Even at the lowest settings, it wouldn't run unless if I lowered the resolution and played it in windowed mode. If you want to see the gameplay for yourself, I have 2 videos where I play a variety of different games.

The main difference is that the 15t is a 15.6 inch while the 17t is a 17.3 inch. So the 15t is lighter, making it more portable.

Ahror Temirov It's a great mid-tier laptop for gaming, but I wouldn't recommend it because I've faced a lot of problems with this. It crashes when I'm trying to do video editing, overheats at random, and trackpad has some issues.

Ramdan Manuguri I'm not sure about the RAM but the FPS fro Tomb Raider depended on what the graphics were set to: Low: Average 40, Max 55 Normal: Average 30, Max 40 High: Average 20, Max 36 Ultra: Average 12 Ultimate: Average 5 Toggling Motion Blur & Special Effects make a difference by about 5 frames I usually play with graphics set to Normal with Motion Blur & Special Effects enabled.

@@UndergroundTech Hell no the new broly movie is probably gonna be ruined. I know that's negative but I'm a hardcore dragon ball fan. I've seen it all in japenese, English and all the Kai episodes too. I've read every issue more then once and super just sucked. If they dont fuck up the broly movie then broly should be MORE powerful then Whis. Anyway. You said in another video of yours you have windows 10 and it was the worst mistake you made, I had windows 10 pro on it myself and it was being gay on the internet, only for chrome and edge though. Now I love windows 8 and hate windows 10 so another reason for windows 8. I had windows 7 Ultimate on that hp but the required drivers arent on windows 7. So a few things sucked, like the speakers needed the beats driver that wasnt on windows 7.

I bought a reburb. pretty red pos refurb. instead of the beats.. i'm going to buy the hp silver, now, new. quality is epic to me. The effing thing came w/ a note that said 95% of these were returned do to software, OS issues. I know my way around that, went to school for it. But, just want shit to work these days. A legit 'puter, processor. Touch, and back-lit keyboard. F Microsoft. Never been a fan.. it chokes like the Twins. I'll wait for the refund and drop 2x on my next experiment, the Envy..
