In this video we will take a better look at the HP ProDesk 400 G3 Mini. During the video, we will start with a brief overview and then I will do a full teardown and re-assembly of the machine. During the re-assembly process, I will upgrade the memory and install a NVMe SSD. Once everything is back together, I will also perform a fresh installation of Windows 11, followed by a series of benchmarks in order to test the performance.

I have a HP EliteDesk G2 800 Mini that I am planning to use as my new Docker host. It has the slightly older i5 6500T but I still expect it to perform much better for Docker then my current Synology NAS which has a much weaker 4-core CPU. The other bonus is that I don't have to listen to the grinding of the spinning disks in my NAS 24/7 :)

Well done 🌈👍 I have the same HP400 and have a question about the RAM-Upgrade: I have 1x8GB and also want to upgrade to 16GB. Can i add 1x8 to the second slot to have 2x8 or do i have to buy a single 16GB DDR4??

Should be fine to add another 8GB module to upgrade

So, if I wanted to use this kind of PC with RPi 4 PiKVM I won't be able to boot and restart it remotely (not standard/atx front IO panel?)? Am I right?

Correct, the power button is directly connected on the motherboard. You might be able to solder that header/cables to the pins of the power button but it won't be very elegant

I was wondering why you did not go with 2x8GB for dual channel. also, why no ssd instead of HD. I was trying to show what the older pc's could do with just ram/ssd upgrades. I have an athlon 2 - 630 ( 4 cpu not hyperthreading ). It was fine with approx 8 or 16 GB ram, ssd, and Linux. it is a little slow on bootup ( when conmpare to faster cpu and nvme ), but as a regular computer - it is ok to use. so I always suggest ssd over HD and if possible nvme.

Hello, can I use a old ssd with the Windows 7 32-bits and all configurated from another windows machine (not HP Prodesk 400 G3 model, a windows standard model pc) in this machine ? this machine work with windows 7 32-bits ? or not ? Thanks Joao

Not sure if it would work with Windows 7 32bit, it would only support 4GB of memory. Especially when the install is from another PC there is a large chance it won't boot. Honestly, I can't find any valid reason why you would want an unsupported, outdated OS not fully supporting the hardware.

Is an I5-6600 processor compatible with this PC? The power supply delivers 65W, it is enough?

Stock TPM1.2 or TPM 2.0?
@yuan.pingchen3056
@yuan.pingchen3056 3 ай бұрын
2.0 because windows 11 minimum system requirement is 7th gen = kabylake, the i5-7500T is 7 gen

I believe it came from the factory with TPM 1.2 but the firmware can be upgraded to 2.0. I even think Windows Update takea care of that

Cpu fan is really an issue? (In terms of noise)

Maybe I had a bad revision or fan series but it was pretty disturbing, yes. Especially knowing that there are enough alternatives available out there.

It installs fine without any need for a workaround and seems to work properly as well.
