Very Nice, NF 👍. HP should take notice that that YOU have those chips IN STOCK. It's not by accident; on the contrary, it's because you've learned how your regular patients make trouble for their users. Very efficient.
@aelaan123 жыл бұрын
I really wonder why HP is not watching these repairs and make product improvements. I mean, you have clearly so much experience with these that identifying the possible faulty parts is going to be a "yup, again the same chips". I know two KZbin channels praise the HP to the heavens and back, they are just manufactured laptops with all the same quality control issues other laptops have.

I usually add a small amount of solder on the pads and gently tap the four corners and the center of the chip when it's being reflowed. Sometimes some pads on the board are still quite cold or covered by flux residue when being reflowed, the extra solder and taps will make sure that nothing is blocking the balls.
@JoeyDoesTech3 жыл бұрын
Maybe a silly question, but why didn't you place new solder on the pads under the chip at 11:15 ? Is it because there was enough solder on the underside of the chip? 😁😁 Thanks!

I got mine to start charging again by pure luck. I was testing voltage going to the usb ports and randomly tested a mosfet/transistor and got the 19v on the meter, and I noticed when the mosfet was contacting ground it started charging. This must have woke up other parts that had previously shut down to protect the board and from then forward I now have one usb port working. I guess I triggered the mosfet/transistor to start functioning normaly by connecting it to ground, I dunno but it still has one power ic dead. I'll hope it continues to work and leave it be, one's enough...

HP should be ashamed to sell the shit that they currently sell. We manage 4500 devices, mostly Elitebook range, there is nothing Elite about them, they're utter junk. Also, here in the UK, HP's support is dreadful. We will be going back to Dell at our next refresh.
@spitefulwar3 жыл бұрын
HP Notebooks beyond Elitebook / Zbook ranges are just bad. At my last workplace (mind you not electronic repair shop, just MSP) we had several Spectre, Envy and Omen Notebooks that my Ex-Boss had sold before we made him take those from the portfolio die, often just after the 1 year warranty period. For those we sold with extensions they also died between 1 and 2 years of use. HP had the entire logic boards replaced and as to my current knowledge (not working there anymore) at least a couple of those repaired notebooks died within another year again. If people want to get an HP notebook and are shooting for the lowest level / entry level you can actually make a good bargain with HP 250 G7s but it seems like anything in between entry level and professional level notebooks at HP is not up to the job. The kicker: a refurbished 840 G2 is in the same price range as the 250s and usually has proven for several years that it would not break down after some "light" office use.
