Yeah it's been a joke over there ever since twitter was bought out that tumblr users should all pretend tumblr is cringe and dead and stuff so that the toxic horrible people don't go back to tumblr. Tumblr rn if I'm being honest is actually pretty chill. It's still an open blogging website so there are bad people but it has the best blocking system in all current social media (like you can block people from comments/reblogs w/o going to their pages, you can mute any words/word combinations and tags and it'll block a reblog even if a bunch of reblogs ago someone tagged it as this tag), also it isn't as algorithm ridden as some of the other places. Still has issues, but if you're set on not starting anything yourself

Still blown away by the fact there's a fangame that ended up actually being released. I remember drawing a few sprites of like bloody walls and characters turn arounds back in like 2017 but it never got anywhere obviously. This fandom can be really really beautiful. And it's rather easy to ignore the bad apples, particularly if you're not too involved with it. Or, if you interact with the fandom the best way - found a person with a great taste and followed their page on twitter, tumblr (which is still very much alive btw), or wherever

About the community, they were a bit weird in other ways when making the thousands of AUs, but I do think that people who hated the game were probably worse (cough* guy who was convicted for attempted assassination against a fan artist of underfell *cough)

As someone who has been in the community for a really long time, If it sucks or not currently depends on where you go. Yes it had a while back in the day which was utter pain but for a long time the main undertale community has from my perspective been really great. Where you currently wanna stay away from is the undertale alternate universe/multiverse fandom as that is genuinely the worst fandom I have ever seen for any media ever, the amount of grooming and such there throughout its history is absolutely astonishing.

I don't think Alphys puts you in any real danger, things like the lasers from what I've heard cant actually kill you, she just puts them there as an obstacle she pretends to fix to seem important, which is its whole own issue but you were at least safe, the times you were actually in danger i.e Muffet and the core were from things out of her control like Mettaton going against her. As for why Alphys did it, she's clearly dealing with a mountain of anxiety, depression and self worth issues, it's not surprising that when she sees that a human is crossing her path that she'd jump at the opportunity to help them and be their guide through a place shes familiar with, even if she goes too far by creating fake danger.

Saying undertale community is bad is a huge exaggeration, its one of the most creative communities out there people should just stop looking for shit posts and look for the actual content , here's a few : Undertale yellow ( a 7 years passionate fan project that got a lot of positive reviews and recognition) Undertale story shift ( a canceled fan game about changing characters roles in game to have different perspective of the story ) SS!undertale (same as story shift but in a different way and still in development) And for the music fan made look for creators like , MOTI , nanagagos , jenny undertale , bu8bles

The toxic fan base they were talking about is probably referring to when KZbinrs first played the game and everyone harassed them for not immediately doing a true pacifist, doing the character voices ‘right’ or just generally not playing the way they wanted to. It lead to a lot of KZbinrs not even wanting to finish it. I don’t think you can really blame undertale fans for the ‘bad’ art and animations though, that kinda applies to every franchise. They’ve definitely calmed down a lot though and they’re pretty chill, unless you mention Kris’s gender or something. Also we aren’t starved for content, don’t worry. We’re content with deltarune

I do want to say that tumblr is very much alive and there's a great undertale fandom for it on there. In general all fandoms have their regions, you need to choose which ones you are willing to engage with. When you see how the fandoms for some games are unrecognizable from one end to the other (the ddlc fandom comes to mind for me), you learn that none of it actually reflects on the media the fandom is about. Also "this game made me a furry" you say that like its a bad thing :3
