The drone footage is amazing Steve, another interesting video. I know someone who used to work there. They moved out about a year ago to a temporary location in Peel Park, not too far from the Tesco Extra, until the new town centre site will be ready. The man who owns Bispham Station Cafe showed me a plaque on the wall of the cafe, which according to ordnance survey is the highest point on the Fylde Coast. Is he right, or is where the water tower is, on a higher spot? I love telling people that Bispham Station Cafe is the highest point on the Fylde Coast because it's my favourite place in Blackpool especially on clear days. Xxx
@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool6 ай бұрын
Thanks Breda. Maybe it's the highest point of the promenade? Knowle Hill, where the water tower is, shows as being 35 metres AMSL against 23 AMSL for Bispham Station.

I used to visit Warbreck hill DWP about 3 times a week about 25 years ago for my job. The buildings as they are now look newly built, but when I last visited the buildings they were a similar layout but looked to date from around the 50's I thought. I was told by a staff member back then that the layout was because it was first used as a hospital?? hence the long corridor and rooms off each side (wards). I don't know if that was true or not.

Stephen, I walk my dog every day on Farleton Knott in South Lakeland. I can see Blackpool Tower and The Water Tower on the horizon. You should have had a look at the Devonshire Road Rock Gardens, just by the water tower. A video in itself - a hidden jem! DHSS buildings were originally hospital buildings for the wounded inWW2, I believe.

All dwp staff had to leave by the 16th June 23. 3 of us stayed on to finish off all the office cleaning before handing keys back to landlord. So all my hard work went up in flames lol. My parter worked up there 30 years.n yes definitely like a prison lol.
@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool6 ай бұрын
Is it as long as the main corridor at Victoria Hospital?
@lesleyevans74826 ай бұрын
Think hospital ones longer tbh. It was all mirror image rooms etc. At 1 point early one they could hold about 70 in 1 office but then dwindled down as time went on n then during covid a lot worked from home but had to go in twice a week. When it closed some went to peel park some at Hesketh house in Fleetwood don't no if it will change when new buildings open if they will have to go back in every day.
