Hi Martin that's really taking shape. Thought it was preferable to glue pull from around outside of dent and work inwards to prevent locking up but you went for body line through centre, would you have done the same if there was no body line, look forward to part two cheers.
@dentremover014 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill, thanks. I was hoping I could shock the edge (deepest part) out along the edge so I didn’t have to push as much. With the amount of pressure needed to shift a dent close to the edge (in Dark grey) without cracking is a lot, and not to bruise the paint...... if it wasn’t on the edge or bodyline then this would be a stretched dent and would need working differently. I wouldn’t have glued it in that case. I don’t glue the edges of a dent first I almost always go straight for the dent with the closest size tab possible. I look at tabs like shaped charges 💣 the shape helps! Hope this explains my thoughts! Take care, Martin

Really nice work on removing the damage. I have a question once the dent has been repaired would that area be prone to damage fairly easy or is it just as strong as the rest of the panels now?
@dentremover014 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike great question. I’d say small dents are as strong as before Large dents may be slightly weaker/prone if bumped to dent easier, metal stretches when impacted. We do have ways to shrink metal but every dent/repair is differant. It’s not something to worry about if you have a dent needing fixing it wouldn’t just pop back in Hope this helps Thanks martin

Thank you for your comment, I did strip the door down but didn’t remove the door because this was a brand new vehicle and I didn’t want to disturb the paint on the bolts like explained in the video. Enjoyed the video! one question, what made you start pulling from the left side of the big dent rather than from the Right side ? How did you know to start on the Left?
@dentremover014 жыл бұрын
Hi Randy thanks for your question, after inspecting the door I thought it would be best to repair the worst place first, and hope the rest of the secondary damage would ease out by itself to some degree, with most large dents you have the main impact and then the surrounding area is drawn in- so you’d assume fixing the impact first would ease the surroundings? Also didn’t want it to lock up if I did it the other way, and if I can’t repair the worst part first, I haven’t lost a whole lot of time Hope this helps and thanks for watching Thanks martin

Hello great work you do I have been attempting a little diy pulling with a kit I purchased on ebay the glue they supplied was very strong and remained on the panel after the pulling but was extremely difficult to remove from the panel a quick spray with alcohol didn't touch it and scraping with a plastic scraper was also ineffective your advice would be most welcome,I noticed you use a grey glue stick but cannot find where to purchase these sticks and what is your recommended glue to use for hot pulling...thanks
@dentremover014 жыл бұрын
Hi John, sorry for the late reply, ok so the glue is called tabweld and you can get this from www.tdntools.com as for removing your glue, use a heat gun to steadily warm the panel up, this will soften the glue….. dont scrape it off! if the tab came off and the glue is on the panel then add some glue to another tab and place onto the stuck glue, spray immediatly with release agent and the lot will come off in one go Hope this helps Martin

Martin I have a fender on 73 Dodge Challenger down to bare metal and took out huge mess of bondo that someone put in over surface rust. There is a large wavy area on top of the fender that has been oil canned by poor repair of big dent (don't know how they damaged top of fender). Anyway can that metal be shrunk? Also there are a whole bunch of pecky dings; looks like someone hit them with small brick hammer. Would solder work on those dings; do not want to use any Bondo!
@dentremover014 жыл бұрын
Hi Carl, sounds like you got a big project going on! Yes you should be able to shrink the area either using the panel beating tools such as a single sided spot welder pistol grip with a carbon electrode- or a carbon electrode tool (shrinking device) or a pdr power biz which is what us dent technicians use As for skimming over other work yes lead would work- although that was before my days of panel beating so I don’t have much knowledge in that area. Can’t you bodyfiller the area to make it smoother?
