I think the main reason the tele handler kept going opposite where you wanted is because you left it in 4 wheel steer. There’s more weight on the rear when the forks are empty so that’s where she went. If you had straightened the wheels out and put in front steer only, you would have had better success.

I was just thinking the same. It occurred to me that in that line of work, a sane person would realize that by simply agreeing to go up there (or out on any recovery), they're accepting of the potential for the worst possible conditions and situation. Losing your cool about anything or on anyone would serve no benefit and potentially put others at risk. That's a lot of bodies up there in those conditions to be aware of and maintain safety concern for. YT content or not, the situations are real and at times very sketchy.

Wow this has been the best I have seen yet. I am semi retired. I worked outside in the sign business for 46 years, a lot of bare handed wiring in the Canadian cold. I can so relate to jobs that went south, but even with broken parts, missing tools, stuff that just didn’t do what it was supposed to, tired, cold, grumpy and euphoric, along with crew members going through their own roller coaster of emotions, but still having to push through, knowing that this will be a bonding time and one hell of a laugh to look back on. I commend you and all of your crew. After a period of time watching that tile handler desperately trying to go for the ditch, I might have been tempted to pit it up and call it in stolen. Lol. The only part that really would have pissed me off truly was running out of fuel at five AM, like a final slap in the face and the end of part one. You need to get Hillbilly out of the Telehandler!!! His driving is making your job 100 times harder then it needs to be. He needs to take it out of quadrasteer and only steer with the front tires. After that he will also need to keep the front tires as straight as possible. When the Telehandler is in quadrasteer it is trying to push the rear end the opposite direction which is off the road/trail, and making the front tires dig into the snow. Always love your videos Dave and how hard you and your crew work. I also appreciate all you do for our community and helping others... Keep up the good work Brother!!!

After years of working at the resorts, next time bring yourself a shop made sled, you can make it out of wood or steel. Something like that, you can do a 2-4 ft wide 12 ft(enough to fit both tires on) Lift 1 side and Place. Lift the other and place the second. Chain tires to the sled. Make sure you are roped off up hill in case it tries to get away. The softer the snow, the wider the sled. Sled can be out of 1 1/8 ply and some 4x6 or sheets of steel welded. We used a long tank once that was cut in half.

Something I think would really help during snow recovery would be heavy duty sleds that can be strapped to the tired this way the vehicle is floating on top and much less resistance while maintaining more control, however steep downhills could present a problem with being able to slow down the load.
@bbwachter Жыл бұрын
You’ve got the right idea but what you need is a boom pole. Probably 4 to 6 inch would be appropriate and proximately 20 foot long hatch through both vehicles in a way you go you’re not going there lose vehicles on the downward slope. Good luck kids.

and women, i hate being excluded all the time, i'm a phD, i run my own thang, i never say never if a client needs help, i love collabs, women create all men you know, women built everything great we have today, you never hear about it cuz these rich oldboys wrote books full of drivel, which dehumanised half the population, the half risking it all to keep the species going, then they changed laws which removed our human rights, right to trade, to inherit, to education, to vote etc [source: Engels]

Dave has the patience of Jobe. Look it up. Its when someone (Dave) exhibits great endurance through all kinds of trials, annoyances, or provocations (most of his crew and other people). But he loves them.

Snow and lack of sleep can really push people to the edge. Poor Allen hanging outside the snow cat at 5am waiting for gas.

Might have been a good idea to plow the road on the way to the telehandler to make it easier to tow it back.

The problem is that the front wheels pull it out of the ditch and the rear wheels pull it back in. You should change to crab walking (front and rear wheels turn in the same direction) if it has that option! What a crazy recovery!

Allen sitting on the back of the Snowcat right where that rope would pop back if it snapped...I was clinched up watching that lol. That could take his wizard head right off

Holy crap what a shitshow! : ) I think not enough people have been in situations like this to appreciate how absurdly funny it is... Play hard, work hard. Keep smiling HeavyD :)

First things first, if you get the low boy stuck like that... Make sure you have some 16 ft 4x4s lumber or dunnage for skids under the frame.. You place the trailer on the skids with them facing the pavement when disconnecting it.. Than use the tow points on the side of the trailer to pull it back up onto the pavement with chains.
