Nice video. Is there any fig earlier than Celeste? I have heard of Early Celeste, but never saw it. You should do a follow up in a few weeks when other varieties are ripening. BTW, LSU Purple just needs to be dead ripe to eat it. Beer's Black/Negronne is like that somewhat, too.

Well, Brian is about 4 1/2 hrs away. Its a bit of a drive for a follow up. lol. I'm not sure what is earlier than early Celeste. Someone in one of the fig forums like OurFigs.com may be able to answer that question.

As for rain... Forks WA gets 14-17 feet of rain a year! There are many areas that get more rain than 60" I am in SW WA and we get 56" of rain and 4" of snow. An 30 minute drive west and they get 74" of rain, another 30 miles past that and it is over 80" of rain. It is too much to get good figs and it is too cool.

I've been trying to start a LSU fig tree collection but everyone in the NW LA area is out & anything they have is going to be gold & purple only. I come down to BR often so I called around down there & it's the same story with the same 2 varieties. I'd like to ask if he could help me. This spring I rooted a sucker from a brown turkey (I think) on my family's land I enjoyed as kid that was supposed to be "old" when my grandparents bought the place in 1953. So I've got the fig fever now 😄

@FlomatonFamous3 жыл бұрын
It could be a few things. Sunlight, water, and fertilizer are the starting points. A balanced fertilizer, regular watering, and at least 6 hours of sunlight are some key things to consider. Where are you located?
@gailpetchenik30483 жыл бұрын
I live in booneville AR. About 40 miles east of OK. The fig is more like a bush then a tree. It has never developed a main truck. My deceased husband planted it & took care of it.
