Thanks for finding my fig tree. The replacement you sent is doing fantastic and UPS never responded to my lost package claim. Once again thank you for sending the replacement when I told you that my tree never arrived.

Dude! You gotta plant that bad boy and take us on its journey to greatness in your garden. What a great marketing tool! Also, the US postal service suuuuuux! Worse than not delivering live plants is not delivering checks for a business. I feels!

This has been one of the best fig production I have had but the figs are no where near as dark as they usually are and they are much larger. The taste is still great.

what should i do if i buy a generi that is dormant when it arrives? do i up pot it.leave it a lone.put under lights and water.i am not sure any help appreciated.would it come dormant and if so what do you suggest for care till spring??
@LazyDogFarm
@LazyDogFarm 3 ай бұрын
You could leave it dormant. Or you could get it back growing again if you have room for it indoors through the winter. If going for the latter option, just snip the tip and you should see it making lots of side branches in just a couple weeks.

Hi. I didn't read all of the questions, or the replies, but, I wish you would mention the ZONES that the fig varieties do best in? Estimated Hardiness? I'd like to know If they take 6 months of summer heat to reach production, & or if they need to be grown in a large pot planter & moved indoors for the winter? Maybe, you could post a list of the different varieties out there, & what types you sell, & how far North they should go? Zone 5. NE Ohio?????????? Thanks.
@LazyDogFarm
@LazyDogFarm 2 ай бұрын
Problem is that I have no way of testing cold hardiness because it doesn't get that cold down here. Most varieties are going to be okay in the ground down to 20 degrees. Growers that get colder than that typically grow them in large pots so they can protect them during the winter. Some varieties are more early-maturing than others, which would be a benefit up north.

When do you normally have stock?
@LazyDogFarm
@LazyDogFarm Ай бұрын
We usually start pre-sales in late winter and then start shipping in April as temperatures allow. Some varieties go very fast, while others may remain in stock for several months.

What fig tree would you recommend of the berry varieties for growing in a pot with 100 day summer? would any berry variety be good to try or should I avoid certain ones? Hello from Canada with a very limited selection. I look forward to tasting a fig that is not in a cookie hahaha.
@LazyDogFarm
@LazyDogFarm 6 ай бұрын
Some berry varieties take too long to ripen for your short season. LSU Tiger is an early-maturing fig, but it's more sugar-berry as opposed to having the real tart berry flavors. But a great fig nonetheless. Salem Dark is probably the earliest true berry fig I have in my orchard. It's been known to do well in the New England area, so you might have a good chance with it too.

My figs, firsts year in the ground but 4 years old. Are super tiny, flavorful but so small. Hopefully they will get bigger. LSU purple and Martinica Ramada. I need a big fig. SE Texas. Which one would you recommend? Will you have it for sale? I want sweet for jam. Blessings!

Haha! This rain we've been getting every afternoon is spoiling all my figs before they can ripen -- especially the honey and sugar figs. The berry figs seem to be a little more tolerant of large influxes of water.
