Hello! I just bought my first hoop and it’s 42”. I’m a large lady and wondering what size is Abby’s hoop in this video? I have such a hard time keeping it up 😕
@hoopsmiles4 жыл бұрын
I don't know exactly, but I think it's definitely bigger than 42 inches. I don't know if you saw the video where I fitted Abbey for a hoop, but I may have talked about it more in that video. Yeah, from the sounds of what you are describing, though I'd need to see what you're doing to confirm, but it does sound like you might need a larger hoop.

I started hooping a week ago and I love your videos, great guidance! I'm starting off with a large weighted hoop to strengthen my core before I can learn to hoop dance. I can only manage a few rotations and I wondered if you had any tips for how to keep that pulsing rhythm going? I feel the rhythm for a couple of seconds and lose it. I also would like to know how long I should practice with a large hoop before I downsize? Thank you! :)
@hoopsmiles4 жыл бұрын
First off, thank you so much for your words! Do you hoop to music? I recommend trying to find a song that fits the tempo of your hooping. Usually larger hoops work for tempos slower than electronic music. If you can find a song that fits the beat of your hooping, then you can practice moving your body to same rhythm of the song. But, if you are struggling to keep the hoop up in general, then something could be going on with your mechanics, which I would need more info about what's going on. In terms of downsizing, I would recommend getting to a place where you can hoop around your waist for many minutes without falling, while being able to walk fowards and backwards and side to side. If you can do that smoothly, then you might be ready to downsize to the smaller hoop. Even then, when hooping on your chest, you might want to come back to the larger hoop again..
@HansyPansy144 жыл бұрын
@@hoopsmiles Thank you so much for getting back to me! :) I will definitely try your suggestions! I do hoop to fast music so I will try slower thank you! I actually have mobility issues in terms of nerve damage in my upper body (ribs) so I've never used that part of my body out of fear and avoidance from pain. But I'm in pain even if I sit motionless so I really would like to build up my fitness and do something active that I can enjoy and I love the idea of slow flowing hooping! Have you taught others with chronic pain and mobility conditions?

Where can I get a good hula hoop (need a really large one)
@hoopsmiles3 жыл бұрын
I don't have a recommendation at the moment. But it does appear that the better hoops can be found on Etsy. I would recommend getting a collapsible hoop. If it's too small, buy 2 of them and assemble them together to make a giant sized hoop.

I used to have the same problem! Sounds like you need a larger hoop and some practice of the techniques we cover in our first video!😊 If I can do it, you can! Don't give up! Best of luck to you!❤ Oh and be easier on yourself, if it was super easy to hoola hoop, it wouldn't be as rewarding when you finally got it down! (And with practice you will!) I recommend watching the first video in our series and practicing. Keep at that until you can hoop without dropping it for several minutes. Then try adding steps and moving your hands. I hope this helps!😊❤😊
